I called the insurance co. tonight..
to see how much my co-pay is for labor and delivery. $250. Is that average? Also, they say I get 48 hours from the time of admission for a Vaginal and 92 hours for a c-section. Is this average?

Re: I called the insurance co. tonight..
wow. What an expense this little one will be!!!
Question though: I have a family member who pops kids out like puppies and she doesn't have a pot to pi$$ in. How did she have SEVEN kids with NO $$$? Does welfare pay for this? Seriously. I'm totally confused.

Re: I called the insurance co. tonight..
It's supposed to be 48 hours from the time you delivery, not from the time you are admitted. I would call back on that.

Of course not if you have insurance. She said that was how much it cost, as in how much the hospital billed the insurance for.

Thanks! Sometimes I don't know that I'm even aware of what I'm getting myself into!!!
At least THIS momentary lapse of reason is resolved!

Re: I called the insurance co. tonight..
Sounds good to me. I don't have a copay with my insurance, but SIL has really good insurance and I *think* she said she paid 500.

Yep, our bill for my son being in NICU for 1 week was $21,000! We didn't have to pay any of it though, but stilll!

Re: I called the insurance co. tonight..
For an HMO that sounds average. We pay 10% of all hospital costs.

I don't have a copay but when Hayley was born the bill was almost $70,000 I had an ambulence ride to the hospital, an emergency c-section and she was in NICU for 10 days and a bunch of tests for her
THANK GOD for insurance!!!!!!

Medicaid probably picked up the bill.
