Next question...

I know to stay away from raw eggs (cookie dough..etc) but lately I've been noticing egg yolks as an ingredient in things like honey mustard dressing and light ice cream. Is that something to stay away from as well? (or am I just being too overcautious?)

You are right, it is in those things and I noticed as well too.

What I believe is that any commerical products must have pastuerized egg yolks used so as to prevent salmonella. Only place you have to be careful is somewhere that makes a fresh dressing or ice cream, you should verify they are using pasteurized eggs.

Yup! You're right. Store bought cookie dough, dressings etc... used pasteurized products so you should be fine. I find the hardest thing for me to avoid is cake batter and brownie mix...I always loved to lick the spoon before I washed the dishes...no more of that for a while!!

eating cake batter or brownie mix is not going to hurt the baby. Honestly, have you ever gotten sick doing that?

Knowing my luck...I would now! I'd rather have my piece of mind.
