If putting the fence up would be benefical to JAck in the future I would just do it now. Doesnt need to be a big fence.

If its just for the party, no I wouldnt do it, b/c your backyard party would become way more expensive then a backyard party should be KWIM?

I think the gift idea is a good one.

Eventually, I do want to put a fence up back there. I had absolutely no intention of doing it this year. Probably next year. I think it would cost at least 1K - and I would rather hold off on that expense for right now --- between his party and going to Italy - I would rather save the $$.

I thought in your Original post you meant a fence just around that small area, not a FULL fence.

I mean a wrought iron fence on the side with the bushes and the small side by the porch and then a gate at the top of the steps. That's what we would end up doing there. Did that make sense?

I would wait regardless though.

How much do you think something like that costs? I was estimating between 800-1000. The railing around my porch was 1500. That's PVS though so that's why I think it would be more....and I need a gate on this one.

oh gosh I dont know. That just seems like sooo much.

We are getting a nice cheap PVC fence outside around the whole yard and our backyard goes on forever, maybe double or 3 times your whole yard and its way under $1000.....But that shows how clueless I am I should shut up now
