Had an HSG this AM (a little long, sorry)...

So we are not officially TTC yet, but I had had surgery a few years ago to remove a cyst and have had followup sonograms ever since. On a recent sono the tech said I might have a bicornuate uterus - I was like um, WTH is that. So my regular gyn wanted to run some tests to see if I had a BU or just a septum on the inside. I have had a sonohysterogram and today the HSG - both show 2 cavities but neither can tell whether it's a BU or just the inside, and now they want me to go for an MRI. To top it off, the dr. today said the dye was "sluggish" going through my left tube and he thinks I might have scar tissue from the surgery. He said "I see children in your future, healthy children, but you might need some help."

We're not even trying yet and I've had all these tests with an RE, and today DH was with me and they started talking about various IF procedures and it was making him really nervous. Based on today I'm scared that we will have trouble getting PG or sustaining a pregnancy. It's like being out before I ever began.

I think I'm going to call my regular gyn today and ask her if I can take a break from all the tests and just try normally for awhile. Now I'm thinking we should start trying sooner rather than later because we might have problems.

I'm sorry for rambling and I know I'm new but I could use some reassurance...

I am sorry. I am so stressed about my HSG, I too have had cysts.

I do not know how old you are, but that would play into my decision on how aggressive you want to be with TTC. If you are young, then you have more time to try naturally. If you are older in fertility years, then you might want to be a bit more aggressive.

I don't really know anything about the tubes, but I have had the same problem with my uteruine shape. I have had quite a few sonos to determine if my uterus is BC, has a septum, or is normal, and 14 sonograms while I was pregnant. Guess what? One doc said I have a sepetum, one said maybe slightly bicournate, & the rest saw nothing. Nobody ever saw anything in the sonos while I was pregnant Then, when I was in labor, a nurse who was feeling my belly swore I had BC or a septum. I still have no idea.

If it helps, I have gotten pregnant 2x & one of those was carried without issue to 41w.

Thank you so much for posting this! I feel like I am hitting a wall because every test I take, they say "this is the one that will tell us" and everytime I get results they say "this isn't going to tell us anything" Today DH even said to me "do you think they are just trying to make money off you?" I don't really care what I have because it's not like they can take my uterus out and reshape it I just want to know that I have at least some chance of getting (and staying) PG. The tube thing is a whole other issue - right now I'm trying to focus on the fact that one of them was perfect! In the meantime I left a msg for my regular gyn to call me because she is really good at explaining things in plain English.

From your post it sounds like you had a m/c - if so I am so so sorry
