Question for your organic moms 9 months+
I was just wondering how you keep up with your DC eating organic when you are out and about?
We were away this weekend - and would just give Jack whatever was in front of us that he would like.
I personally think it would be hard to keep up with the organic eating all the time but my DH is reading a book now about it and I'm trying to get some more info.
Do you find it hard now that your DC is off of baby food and onto solids?
ETA: Do you not give all organic all the time?

I am not hardcore with it - if I can find an organic alternative, then I go for it - if not, then I don't make myself crazy... So when we go out, he eats whatever as long as its vegetarian...

Re: Question for your organic moms 9 months+
It depends where we are ...If if its someplace I can bring our food, its not an issue.
It its somewhere I plan to feed him there..then I feed him whatever.
But that doesnt happen often.
If we go to family, friends, the beach, park etc..I bring our own food.
At things like B-day parties, I let him eat whatever...Im not that strict with it...I try to control it, but I know I cannot control it 24/7..nor do I want to.
Special occasion to me are ok.
Its more of the additives/preservatives/pesticides on a daily basis that make me nervous versus once in a while KWIM?
If we go out to eat, I will usually just try to order the best healthiest thing for him.
HTH.
ETA- With me, I prefer organic dairy, meat and produce, and I buy Organic groceries when its possible, but its more about just healthier food ...like no jarred or canned or boxed stuff that has all the artifical stuff that hasnt been researched in it. Hope that made sense.

I try to do my best but it's not always possible. Aside from trying to pack things, what I do is to choose whatever alternative that's the least processed.

oh gosh....where to start..
Anything.
Yogurt, cereal bars, muffins, fruits, veggies, Sandwiches...I made Banana and creamcheese sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, cereals ( cherrio like), cheese with crackers, other snacks..
if its at family/friends and they have a microwave..then ravioli's or veggie burgers or chicken or mac and cheese already made...chicken nuggets( anything microwavable)
Trying to think...
Usually we are out at lunch/b-fest which is easier..

Ahhh gotcha. Not to sound naive but I can barely figure out what to feed Jack - and I feed him anything so I wasn't sure what you could bring on the go. Thanks!

I gotcha..I come up with new things all the time to feed him...depends on what they have in the store.
We 50% of the time wing it out to eat.
But I try to always pack stuff.

Re: Question for your organic moms 9 months+
Pretty much agree with a lot of the previous posters. DD is still working up to more and more table food, and I try to give her everything organic. But, esp. now that she's trying new stuff, I give her bits of things non-organic because it's available. For instance, although she'll be eating strictly organic meats usually, she had a few pieces of DH's chicken the other night, which was not organic.
I try to do organic all the time, and agree with the others, if I can't do it on something in particular I am flexible and let her eat other stuff.
ETA: Diana, did you guys go away? How was your trip? Did I miss your recap post?

I pretty much do the same It's impossible for me to control it when we're out or at a friends so DD will eat whatever. But when I CAN control it, I do.

Re: Question for your organic moms 9 months+
I do give organic all the time. If I know we are going to be out, I bring a jar of the organic with me, and usually an apple or some other portable fruit. If I am out unexpectedly, I'll give him an extra bottle (which I always keep in my bag). The other night in the ER he got very hungry & cranky & I had to give him an extra bottle.
