I heard it suggested to bring some of your favorite cd's something soothing perhaps and some reading material. Also, if your cord blood banking don't forget your kit.

Are you putting someone else in charge of remembering the camera or video camera? My DH and I always forget to bring it to all major events, so I asked my dad to be up on that.

Re: can you check what i've packed?

I would pack your clothes in a different bag and have DH bring them on another day. There's no need to have them with you in the delivery room. You're going to be in your hospital gown for the first day especially if you are having a c-section. Also I would make sure that any of your cleaners/lotions are fragrance free since a newborn can be very sensitive to smells. If they are not then personally I would not bring them.

A small can of Lysol spray disinfectant. If you have a roommate(or even if you don't) the stuff that will be happening on that toilet seat is Chat Icon I sprayed it down everytime I used it as did my roommate. Everything else looks good Chat Icon

Don't pack the baby's coming home outfit, put it in the carseat and have DH bring it the last day when you are leaving.

I barely used anything I brought. The only godsends were my robe and my slippers.

Re: can you check what i've packed?

I packed so much stuff and I didn't use half the stuff I packed.

You def need all your tolietries and bf supplies. I had 2 prs of pj's and ended up wearing the hospital gown most of the time. You only need 1 or 2 prs of slipper socks or slippers at the most.

I don't think you need towels, the hospital provided those to me.

I used my hairdyer and I should have brought a pillow from home because the hospital pillows were lousy.

Re: can you check what i've packed?

Bring Colorx/Lysol wipes .... you may have to share a bathroom and honestly, you will have a hard time trying to 'not touch' the bowl or anything after giving birth. Throw in some anti-bacterial cleaning wipes in your bag. Also maybe unscented baby wipes for you. You might be really sore down there and a little 'cool, softness' may ease some pain.

ETA: I brought my lavendar scented bodywash/lotion... after 24 hours and delivery (I had c section), showering with a scent made me feel wonderful. It perked me up better than anything else while I was there.

Re: can you check what i've packed?

In my honest BTDT opinion, you won't even need half that stuff.

What I would do it have most of that stuff set aside AT HOME. The first few hours/day after you give birth you will only need a few essentials..

chapstick
cameras
phone
comfy outift

Then, once you know what you will really need, I would send DH home to get just that stuff and not lug it all with you.

p.s. especially if you are having a C/S you REALLY won't need anything until the next day anyway

i wore hospital gowns the whole time i was there. dh brought me my clothes, the baby's bag, and car seat on the last day.
eta: have dh bring an empty bag the last day so that you can load up on freebies (the mesh underwear, pads, baby supplies, etc.).

Re: can you check what i've packed?

U have done a good job. However, you wont be using 90% of that stuff trust me. I overpacked when I had DS and didnt need half of what I had. Next time I am bringing:

Gown
Thick Thick Pads
Underwear (big undies)
Toothbrush, Toothpaste, body wash, lotion, comb, brush, hair ties, lip gloss
towel and rag
snacks for DH and I
paperwork with folder for footprints etc.
baby take home outfit
3-4 onesies for baby,2 hats, 3 pair of socks (although if u dont bring these the hospital always provides)
Lasinoh cream for breastfeeding, nursing pads
My going home outfit

Re: can you check what i've packed?

As a BTDT mother of 2, I always tell everyone I know to bring TIGHT UNDERWEAR!! NOT maternity!! The pads they give you are HUGE AND they give you these ice pack pads to wear in your underwear if you've had an episiotomy or any hemorrhoids. Those pads ARE HEAVY!!

With my first son, I wore maternity undies and those pads. When I stood up to pee....my underwear fell to the floor...no joke! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

The rest of that stuff, you're never going to use! Chat Icon But pack it, just in case!

Good luck! Chat Icon
