I like the idea of the tattoo (because of how you feel about your hometown). I personally would get it at the very very top of your back (right under your neck)Chat Icon

I'll say it, the lower back is sometimes called a tramp stamp.

why is it that MOST threads end in the debate over what's offensive?

because everyone gets offended over everything. it's ok then, but when particular people get offended and say something, all of the drama comes out.. or maybe it's just everyone likes to cause drama after i post. even if what i'm saying has nothing to do with drama.

But you were the only person to get offendedChat Icon unless you count carolinep24 (see above offense)

I opened this post because I actually wanted to respond to MrsMerlot's question, but I have to agree, there WERE only two parties who claimed any offense on this thread.

Anyway, being a Brooklyn girl myself, I do not think it is "tool-like" to get a Brooklyn Tattoo. I am getting one in April when I get my leg piece finished. I was also thinking of the wrist, but I might do the back of my neck instead. There's something about being born and raised in Brooklyn that inspires a strange pride...I know at least in me it does...

I say go for it...I'm getting mine in a swirly script as well. Remember the airbrush Brooklyn t-shirts at Ceasar's Bay?
(Just a random memory...no connection to anything...)

::does double take::: I was referring to the fact that you said "Everyone gets offended over everything." that no one got offended on the thread except you.

The thread was simply to ask an opinion on if she should get a tatoo. I stated that as long as she's ok with potentially losing business, go for it. But she should be aware that there is a portion of the population that does judge tatoos - particularly in her line of work.

No one said anything offensive about someoe having tatoos or that they themselves judged them

Really I'm just wasting my breath or typing over this. I'm not sure I'll ever understand what the issue you have is over what I wrote or that you'd get what I was trying to say.

We're definitely missing each other's point.

Re: Be honest...will I be a "tool" for getting a tattoo...

oh i didng realize that you meant my statement of people getting offended in general. i meant in general on this message board, not just this thread. i'm the only one offended on this thread because i'm the only one that can relate. and it's more of me being bothered that people would look at the OP differently because she has a tattoo

Re: Be honest...will I be a "tool" for getting a tattoo...

Tattoos are not for everyone. And since the OP (I believe?) has her own business it may not appeal to all of her clients. With that said, someone above (Janie I think?) said maybe get it on the back of her neck...which can totally be covered when meeting with clients.

XFinallyX - I don't think anyone was trying to offend you / your tattoos but the point is they are acceptable to everyone. Personally I really like them, esp when tastefully done. But not for everyone!

you have A tattoo, which most people get them in spots that aren't that noticeable, whereas i have FULL SLEEVES and big tattoos on my legs. VERY noticeable. NO ONE can relate to that unless they're heavily tattooed like myself.
