CBEFM FYI
It's not fool proof. It did not detect ovulation but by blood test I did ovulate. So don't give up hope if you don't see a peak. Probably best to just BD anyway.

Re: CBEFM FYI
This is true I think. I used the monitor when I had my son a few years ago. This time around, it shows my peak before I would have a surge. I know this is true for me because I've had blood tests to prove it. I think when you are a regular cycle person (like I was when I had my son) it works well. But if you are irregular, you should just bd every other day.

Re: CBEFM FYI
I'm sure for most people it works but I guess I just want to make sure girls BD anyway just in case somehow it missed it. I ended up at an RE because I thought this was my 6th month out of 8 not ovulating and blood test shows I did ovulate.

Re: CBEFM FYI
those monitors aren't 100%... I have one and stopped using it because I have PCOS and it actually has a disclaimer on the side of the box that it may not be accurate if you have Pcos, etc... it would give me like 12 days of middle readings and NEVER get to peak/egg. I felt like I was just wasting $.

Re: CBEFM FYI
monkeybride - thanks for sharing that info, that's upsetting that the monitor isn't always reliable...This is my 2nd month using it and my cycles are on the longer side.... The cycle that you had the blood work done, did you ever get a peak reading? Also, how many months have you been using the CBEFM?? I'm thinking maybe I should also buy OPKs as back up because honestly I have been solely depending on those peak days being accurate. The last 2 months my peak days have been on CD 20 & 21 and then CD 21 & 22.

i do all 3 i use the monitor chart and use OPK's whenever my OPK looks +; i get a peak the next day
i have lots of issues and hashimoto's thyroiditis so i always knew it wasnt going to be easy
i have been using the monitor for 3 cycles and i do get peak readings; usually 2 days in a row after 5 "high" readings and about 12 "low"

I did not get a peak reading this month and did in fact ovulate. I have no idea why that happened but it did so I guess it's best to BD with high days just in case. You never know. I don't know if I would spend money on OPK's too, just BD on high days, don't just wait for the peak in case somehow it misses it.

Re: CBEFM FYI
Yeah. I found that out the hard way.
Last month, I got my first peak reading. I had bloodwork to follow up, and found out that I did NOT, in fact, ovulate.

Re: CBEFM FYI
Thats crazy!!! I'm going on my fifth month of using it, and I always get Peaks but I'm ALWAYS wondering if the peak comes a bit too early bc I seem to think my surges are long....like this month I totally think I O'd like two days afer my peaks!!!!
thanks for the info and great that you are Oing!!!!!

Re: CBEFM FYI
that is why i use the OPK too just to make sure the peaks are coming when they should
i usually get a + opk the day before a peak reading
then i get a negative OPK day after peak so it seems to be correct
i just hope i AM ovulating after reading all these other posts

Here's the thing... if you have PCOS you can get false positive's on your OPKs and that includes the monitor as well. My last IUI cycle in December, I got a +OPK and a peak reading on the monitor on CD13 - unheard of for me. Blood work and sono showed NOTHING going on. In fact, my bloodwork was exactly the same as it was on CD3. I didn't end up really Oing until CD23 that cycle.

Re: CBEFM FYI
so what would make BOTH show up as positive??
i have a dr. appt on april 19th
OBGYN didnt say i had PCOS; my endo. said that i "might" or that i had symptoms
BUT when i had the + OPK and peak reading; i also had EWCM and a temp. shift so maybe i am ovulating when the monitor said so??

I was responding to your "it's weird" post to MrsRivera, to just show that it's really not weird if you have PCOS. Having PCOS just makes it difficult to really trust if you are getting a false positive or not. If all your signs point to you O'ing then you probably did, especially if you don't know for sure if you have PCOS. For those of us that know for a fact we have it, OPKs are not always accurate.
