Just a little update on my teenage brother...
I don't know if anyone remembers but the last 2 yrs my mother was struggling to get control of my youngest brother, who was heavily into drugs, alcohol, and was both verbally and physically abusive to my mom at times...
So many of you pointed me (which in turn pointed her) in the right direction to get her and him help. She did receive an order of protection, he did go on the "pins" programs (which wasn't called that anymore) but everything was unsuccessful.
Well its been 2.5 yrs (probably longer than that- but 2.5 yrs that my family has been trying to get help) and apparently last weekend my very very drunk brother called my mom from a party asking to be taken to the hospital to go to detox.
From what I was told- he shared that he has been in NA (narcotics anonymous) for about a month or so, but realizes that he also has a drinking problem, and runs to it every time something upsets him (more so now that he is trying to be drug free). He starts AA this week as well...
This was all his choice- so I really hope he sticks to it
Just thought Id share since I know there are a few that were dealing with very similar situations, and wanted to let all those who went out of there way to help, know that we are finally seeing a light.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is his wake-up call. Lots of kids get wrapped up in things like this, but go on to lead wonderful lives as adults.

It's a great step that he reached out for help. Heres some prayers that he gets onto the right path. There may be some stumbling blocks along the way but as long as he wants it, he'll get there

Wow! It definitely sounds like he is on the right road. HE recognized the problem and HE asked for help. I have noticed that the people who ask for help, are the most successful in recovery.
