I'm not great at decorating cakes, but I like to bake their cakes for their birthdays just like my mom did.
Sarah's first birthday (not creative at all)
Sarah's 2nd birthday, they were an homage to a Cookie Monster cake my mom made me when I was a kid, but hers was MUCH better than mine.
Andy's first birthday (Had issues with the dairy free frosting recipe so I just left it unfrosted) There was a second cake for everyone else that had dairy in it but I don't have a pic saved on here

Julia's 1st B-day we did a cupcake tower, from Dortoni's Bakery (here is a pic), for her 2nd b-day we had a sheet cake with Dora and boots on it. Image Attachment(s):

They did an X Box grooms cake for my friend and it was amazing...
somone looked at a picture I took of the cake and asked why they had video games at their wedding!

Such cute cakes!!
I made Kev's 1st b-day cake - Baby Einstein. After his 1st bday- all his parties were in a place and used their cakes/cupcakes and had Carvel ice cream cakes (with the theme on them - trucks on year bob the builder the next) back home for the family. I also make just regular cakes the day of - nothing too creative and Kev helps in the making.
