Ok so I had to give Andrew the MMR yesterday...
because he is entering school in the summer and he has to have all his shots. The ped told me that he wouldn't have any effects from it until a week or so with a slight fever and a rash.
Well, yesterday around 3 he started acting lethargic and had a fever of 103. I gave him Motrin which brought it down to 101. He wouldn't eat. He was just lying there. Then before he went to bed I gave him more Mortrin.
Then 2 more times he woke up last night screaming and burning up. He is still sleeping now.
Did this happen to anyone after getting that shot? Of course I am paranoid to begin with because I HATE this shot but had no choice
Sorry for the rambling, I just feel so guilty.

Marron had it when she was 13 months, and had no reaction at all.

Neither one of my kids had reactions.
It's probably just be a coincidence, it's still cold & flu season.

That's what I am thinking but of course I am paranoid. He has no other symptoms except 2 spots on his cheek. I am going to examine him when he wakes up.

I hope he's better today!

Anthony went into the hospital for a fever of 105.5 due to this shot... no one realized this until after they were testing him told me he was gonna have a spinal and i REFUSED it! thats when they were like.."oh its prob from the MMR"
keep alternating the motrin and tylenol (6 hrs motrin 4 hrs tylenol)
its the only thing that worked for us.

ITA. Both my kids got the shot by the time they were 18 months and no problems.

DD hasn't had it yet so no advice. I'm looking into exemptions for starting preschool before I break down and give it to her.

Good Luck.
The Principal told me and the ped told me that it is the law that they have to have certain shots. Otherwise he can't attend.

Re: Ok so I had to give Andrew the MMR yesterday...
We had a fever within 48 hours, it went away after a day or so. Then about 7 or 8 days later, DS broke out with a 104 fever that would NOT break even with Motrin and Tylenol and lasted for 3 days then he developed the measles from the MMR. DS #1 never had a reaction-I guess he left it all up to DS#2.
