Two totally random questions...
Okay... I know hot tubs are a no no during pregnancy... what about a nice bubble bath?
Other one is about cold cuts. I know nothing off of a deli slicer... I was told packaged ones are okay... Anyone know about Subway type places?
Thanks for your help with my silly questions

Re: Two totally random questions...
i think bubble baths are okay because they are not as hot as hot tubs
every doctor is different, but mine told me NO cold cuts at all unless they are heated... someone also told me subway actually had a warning on their web site saying pregnant people shouldnt eat it (not sure if that is true or not)

Re: Two totally random questions...
I think the reason to avoid hot tubs is two fold. 1. the temperature and 2. bacteria. So make sure your tub is cleaned and don't make the water too hot. HTH

Re: Two totally random questions...
My Dr. told me, and I read that cold cuts are OK if they are heated up until they steam. I only did that once.
Most of the time I don't eat deli meats

I think the baths are ok.
And I actually told the opposite about cold cuts, to get them from a reputible deli and not to eat the pre packaged ones because THOSE had listeria a few years back.
I never heated them, that is disgusting IMHO!

Re: Two totally random questions...
My doctor told me cold cuts were ok as long as I wasn't ordering strange things ...I'm guessing she meant like olive loaf, or mortadella. She said turkey and chicken and ham were ok.

Re: Two totally random questions...
I heard baths were a no-no...but never actually confirmed this with a Dr!!
My Dr said cold cuts are fine as long as they are from a reputable place. I personally, never ate subway because I didn't feel like the cold cuts were clean! But, I'm weird like that!!

bubble baths are fine as long as they are warm, NOT hot
my doc never said anything about cold cuts. she only told me not to eat unpasteurized cheeses, raw fish, or fish with too much mercury in it.

Re: Two totally random questions...
I kind of had the same feeling about Subway- it is kind of sitting out all day... Better safe than sorry!
As for the baths... I will double check next time I am there Thanks for your help!

Re: Two totally random questions...
A bath is Ok if it's warm - not hot. The concern is raising your body temperature.
I would avoid all cold cuts unless heated.

Re: Two totally random questions...
I need a clear-cut answer on the ham issue...
I'm going back to germany this summer.... the most gorgeous and cleanest ham in the universe... please tell me I can eat it!
It's bad enough that I can't have the wine and beer

Re: Two totally random questions...
i take bubble baths a few times a week...my dr told me it was fine, just not too hot.
she also said that cold cuts were fine, in moderation...eat them while they are fresh. also subway keeps there meat out all day, the only thing I ever eat from there is tuna, which I eat very sparingly.

same here. My doctor said it was fine as long as it was a high turnover deli.

Re: Two totally random questions...
Trust me, I have worked at Subway once upon a time, and I would avoid it!! They lay around prepackaged for days.
Also, my doc said baths if they are tepid, not hot!

Re: Two totally random questions...
Both my RE and OB said NO cold cuts UNLESS you warm them up. Reputable place or not, you can get listeria from anywhere. I LOVE cold cuts but I'm being cautious and simply have given them up for now.
