Visions of your Wedding

I got married before any of my friends. I planned everything with my mom for the most part. We have the same taste on many things, so it worked out. I really couldn't ask friends because no one else had ever planned a wedding before. My wedding ended up being totally my style, lots of fun and excitement, vibrant colors, etc. The only thing that bothered me about my wedding came about two months later when I got my proofs- it turns out I didn't like my pictures or my hairstyle at all. If I could turn back the clocks my whole look and photographer would be 100% different. Well, this regret seems to never go away. I've been thinking recently about how this ended up happening and I realize it's because I never had a vision of what I wanted to look like or have my pics reflect. It's funny, I never dreamed of getting married before I got engaged. I never looked at a bride and thought I can't wait to get married. The only thing I ever wondered about was who this guy would be that would become my husband. I still can't even believe he's already here. My question to everyone is before you got engaged did you have a vision of your wedding day?

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I agree with you TOTALLY!
I loved the planning and still think it went great, but there are A LOT of things I would have changed. Looking back, I HATED my makeup and my hair was not 100% what I wish it was. Looking at so many other people's picttures, they look so magical and princess-like on their wedding day. I don't think I had that Chat Icon

Other than eat drink and be merry, I'd say no, I didn't really have a vision of what the day would be.

I had a vision of what the day would of been like and if I could do it again I would pray even harder for no rain, have different centerpieces and not be a ***** in the morning to my mom & sister.

definitely not prior to planning.

once the ball got rolling, I knew what I wanted my day to be like.

the only regret I have is my dress. I didn't like it.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I always had a vision of what my wedding would be like before I even met my DH. Once we got engaged, we started to plan & DH really gave me control over anything I wanted. He understood that this was something a "girl" dreamed about. With that said, we did all the planning ourselves & really tailored it to Us.

Looking back now, I can honestly say that my wedding was everything I envisioned. I always knew that I would not spend a fortune of my wedding just bc I didn't think there was a point. I still feel like we went above & beyond in the places that we truly knew would stand out yet we took the backseat in other spots. If i redid my wedding all over again, I would not have changed a thing Chat Icon

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I knew I wanted a wedding that wasn't in a glitzy catering hall, and I wanted it on the water...I loved where I had my wedding, but when I look at my pics now I wish I hadn't worn the tiara. Somehow it seemed like everyone was doing it, so I did, but I just felt like it wasn't me.

But honestly, it was over 3 years ago and I don't think about the wedding at all anymore. I haven't looked at my album in years. Chat Icon I'm happy that we are making new memories and have new pictures to look at!

Re: Visions of your Wedding

Yea, I had a vision. That vision drastically changed over the years from when I was a little girl through to the time I actually started planning. Plus there were some things in that vision that just would never have fit into our budget.

Our wedding was exactly what I wanted it to be "simple but elegant". It was the most wonderful day of my life and everyone raves about what a great time they had. However, we were disappointed with our pictures. While planning I saw so many brides booking photographers who could take photojournalistic pics, but I never thought I'd want that. I always felt that the tradtional pics were enough, that I didn't need those pics showing every little candid emotion.

I was wrong. Horribly wrong.

As much as I remember about our amazing wedding I wish I had the pictures that truly captured the feelings from that day. It's as if we had this wonderful day and it was all just a dream, looking at the pics they just don't do it justice. All our hard work planning, and all of the love that we share, and we're embarassed to show people our pics.

We considered doing a day-after shoot, but it just wasn't financially feasible and it just isn't the same.

I always knew how my wedding would.

The two thinga I would have changed was my centerpieces and making it longer. That day went by way too fast.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

Well I am not married yet, but I will be in October.

I can say my wedding is NOT going to be what I envisioned at all. I wanted a beach wedding, I found a church in Mexico that over looked the water, and I wanted barefoot at the reception drinking margarita's and a mariachi band. The only thing I really cared about was the fact I would be getting married by a Catholic priest.

Instead I will be having a very traditional wedding that is costing my FH and myself more money then I wanted to spend on it. This was what FH wants, not me. But to be honest it was more important to him, and I want to give him his dream.

I stare at my dress and my make up trial pictures CONSTANTLY. I don't know how I feel about either and feel like I am going to hate the way I look on my wedding day.

But such is life!

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I am getting married in June, I guess i really didnt have a vision before, but i have a vision now. The day goes by so fast, i just wanted a really unique catering hall with lots of charm, something intimate.
I also wanted the dress of my dreams and didnt set a price limit i just picked the gown that i loved the best. I am not wearing a tiara, just a small clip in the back, im wearing my hair all down.
I am using all white flowers for everything.
lots of candles very romantic
I guess that is a vision right lol
I am not getting an old fashioned rolls royce.
I am riding in a new limo

I see alot of girls with these magical photos and they look amazing, I hope my photographer will capture those moments.

I agree with the other posters that once its over, its over and i will probably never look at my albums/video again.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I never had a vision either before I got engaged. It developed along the way as I planned the wedding. I do have a couple specific regrets, but they aren't anything that could've been fixed by thinking about it ahead of time. What happened, happened... and the "big picture" was beautiful regardless. So I'm trying to let those things go.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I'm getting married in Oct. but I before I even got engaged, I had a vision of what I thought my wedding day would be.... I have the complete opposite vision now that I'm in the throws of the planning. I wanted beach, I'm having fall... I wanted champagne BM dresses, I'm having deep purple BM dresses....

In the end, my vision is simple and easy, nothing flashy and Im not stressing out about the small details because I realize it's one day and as long as we have fun that's all that matters to us.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I never had a vision of my wedding day, even after I got engaged. I didn't even want a big wedding, but my DH convinced me otherwise. He felt I would regret not having "my day".

We started out wanting a low key backyard wedding, but that was getting tough to organize and somewhat expensive. Then we considered renting a home out in the Hamptons...again, expensive and a lot more planning and preparation involved.

It wasn't until we stumbled upon our wedding location that I started to get a vision of how I wanted things to look. Not so much my wedding day, but more the location and things that revolved around it.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I never even gave my wedding a fleeting thought before I got engaged... and we chose a long engagement (2 1/2 yrs!) because I didn't feel the need to rush into planning. Actually, a lot of the time I was annoyed by all the time that the planning was taking up and I recruited DH to help w/ a lot. He kept telling me that most brides are totally hands on and want control of everything... I just wanted to make a decision, set it in motion and move onto the next thing.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I never had "visons" of a wedding before getting engaged. I never even wanted to get married! I had plans of getting married when I was "old", ya know, like 40 Chat Icon so I'd have a companion for my old age! After a few years of dating DH I just knew we were going to get married but still never had any desire to envision a girlie wedding.

It was a wonderful day (with the exception of wanting to slap a few people-well just one person!), I married an amazing DH, and I wouldn't change a thing. But I did love my dress and hair!

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I definitely did NOT have a vision before I was engaged. I wound up having a very traditional wedding and was very happy with it. In hindsight, there were a few things I would have done differently, but overall, I was very happy with my wedding.

Re: Visions of your Wedding

I have loved weddings since I was a little girl - as long as I can remember. And I was never really a very "frilly" girl - but weddings got me! I just loved them - I knew who Vera Wang was at a VERY young age, knew all about halls and different things to have at weddings. So, when I got engaged it was like natural to me. But I can understand what you are saying - b/c you never really had that vision it was harder to make everything a reality.

I'm sorry you are not happy with your pics. Chat Icon
