What gift to give for wedding?
If you were going to a destination wedding, what gift would you give. If you were paying for your own flight & hotel. TIA

IMO it would be rude to not give a gift. i also dont like to give anything other than money so if I was paying all that money to attend a destination wedding, I would simply give less than I normally would. I also apply this principle if I am going to a wedding out of state where I will have to pay for a hotel and/or airfare.

i would give the same amount i would usually give as long as i could afford it. if money was tight and i was spending most of the wedding gift on the traveling, then i would give a little less, but still as close to the usual amount as possible.
i guess i think differently than most - i love the idea of a destination wedding b/c it forces me to take a vacation i might not take on my own!!

We just went to a wedding in California for DH friend, we paid for all expenses and still gave him a gift, it was just less than we normally would give.

As long as I could afford it, I would definitely give a monetary gift. It would probably be a little less than I would normally give for a local wedding ... especially if its a far away exotic location (as compared to just out-of-state)
I personally don't like giving physical gifts for weddings ... especially if the wedding is OOT ... b/c either you ship it to them before the wedding and hope it gets to them before they leave (and you still end up going to the event empty handed  ) .... or you bring it with you to the wedding, so you're stuck schlepping it there and they're stuck schlepping it home
