B-Complex Vitamins.....Short Luteal Phase

So I have a short luteal phase and i've been reading up on the b-complex vitamin. DOes anyone take them and have a recomendation on how much mgs. etc? Anyone lengthn their luteal phase and get their BFP taking them? How long?

SOrry for the questions. I had a M/C in NOvember and we start again next cycle so I'm a bit of a wreck.

Re: B-Complex Vitamins.....Short Luteal Phase

hey maria!

i had a short LP - i only used OPKs for one month but judging from my CM i would O about CD13 or 14 and i had two 25 days cycles and one 23 day cycle after coming off BC. (anywhere from a 9-12 day LP)

i started taking the b-complex vitamin in the middle of my third cycle (the 23-day one) - so obviously it didn't work right away (i would say i started taking it around CD8 or so).

the next cycle, my fourth, i continued to take the b-complex, but i also used pre-seed and OPKs that month for the first time.

i O'd on CD13 that month, and i got my BFP on CD23 (10DPO).

keep in mind that i was doing everything "wrong" for the first three cycles, including using regular lube, which i didn't know was harmful to sperm, so those could have been other contributing factors.

i hope this helps you - i know other girls have had success with b-complex too.

Re: B-Complex Vitamins.....Short Luteal Phase

I started B6 and B12 this month (not B Complex). I had a 10 day LP for the last 2 cycles. I am 5 DPO, so I'll see if my LP lengthens this cycle......

Re: B-Complex Vitamins.....Short Luteal Phase

I started taking them the first day of AF my last cycle and it lengthened it by 1 day so far....I hear its possible to take a few cycles to lengthen it even more.

Thanks to headoverheels advice!

Re: B-Complex Vitamins.....Short Luteal Phase

FYI..... I checked "the bible" (TCOYFChat Icon ) and it specifically mentions taking 100-200mg of B6 to lengthen LP.

I need to get the Bible!!!! That's what I've been reading so i'm trying to figure out if I can take 2 B-6 complexes or take one B-6 complex and get some regular B-g and take an extra to bump up the mg! My Dr wants me to just wait it out! I know my body and I was in the medical profession for years so I know this is what it is I just don't feel its necessary to wait! Ughhhh

Re: B-Complex Vitamins.....Short Luteal Phase

I came off BCP in October and the first month I didn't temp or use OPKs or anything. The first cycle was long - about 36 days, and I think my LP was about 10 days. Second cyle it was 10 days, so I started taking a B6 supplement along with my prenatal. We got PG on the third cycle off BCP - our first actually TTCing.

I'm only 5 weeks and a little concerned about what my short LP means for this bean sticking, but so far no spotting or anything, so fingers crossed!

Thanks for the information!!! I'm not an expert in this but from what I've read I don't think a short LP will affect your bean sticking at this point. It's getting it to stick that is the problem! Happy and healthy 9 months!

I hope you're right, fingers crossed!

FYI - I had started a thread on pregnancy once asking who had conceived with a short LP and several people posted. You might want to do a search.
