inviting friends to shower help!
my mom is kinda being a pain about who's invited to my shower. she said she wants to keep it smaller than my bridal shower. i gave her a list of friends, including 5 friends from work and she was like, "won't they give you a shower at work? they don't need to come!" they will give me a small shower at work, but i've gotten really close to these people these past couple of years and i see them everyday so they have heard more details about my pregnancy than anyone. So should i invite them and then not invite a group of 4 college friends that i dont really talk to see/ever, but have gone to weddings/showers for them for? i think it's gotta be one group over the other.

Re: inviting friends to shower help!
Both DH and I always keep parties very small.... our wedding had under 65 people! bridal shower had 16.
my rule of thumb has always been:
if I haven't spoken to them or seen them outside of an event like a wedding in the last year, they are not considered a 'good friend' and wouldn't be on the invitation list of the shower...
co-workers you are close with: invite old friends who've drifted apart: not necessary
I bet some of my 'drifted away' friends don't even know I'm married... or have even met DH

I agree. I have 4 girls from work on my list. I go to lunch with them every day and we hang out outside of work.
Other friends from college and such I did not invite because I have not spoken to them in months.
