Re: DH just stopped a drunk driver
Wow! That totally pisses me off that the first cop just let him go. Jake is a hero if you ask me! God forbid this guy went off & hurt or even killed somebody last night.
To Jake!

even if he had a gun- he couldn't drive straight or speak- let alone shoot someone
It takes less then 1 second to shoot a gun and if a person points it in some sought of direction your in... there is a good chance of something bad happening...
I still find it hard to say the first cop let him go if he was "that" drunk... he must of had a good story to tell...

what is your problem? what are you implying?
we found ourselves in a situation and we felt we had to act
I guess you would have just gone home and sat on the couch
my husband isn't like that- he isn't afraid of a drunk/drugged out driver
he was more afraid of him killing someone
and like I stated before- this guys brother is an EMT - so I am sure that's why they let him go-
they didn't even tell the owner of the jeep that was hit - we had to take the second cop back there and he filed a report
if that was my car- I would be ******- I have to park on the street to- 99% of the people in this area do

Re: DH just stopped a drunk driver
Beth - as i stated in my previous post - i commend your dh for getting that POS off the street - however, I have to say, i don't think this was the smartest way to go about it (i must've missed this part the first time i read your OP):
Posted by Beth1210
you run home, get your wife and your car- you go out looking for the guy- his car was barely movable- you find him
not only did he put himself in harms way, he put you in harms way - God forbid something would have happened with that lunatic? what if in a split second, that dd would have harmed you in some way? i don't think your dh would have ever been able to forgive himself (just as he couldn't if that dd would have hit and/or killed someone) Again - i think what your dh did was great (getting one more dd off the street) - i'm just glad that neither one of you were hurt in the process.

Re: DH just stopped a drunk driver
Like I said before Jake's intention was only to get the plate number for the jeep owner- so they would know what happened to there car
not to stop him
we tried to get the cop that should have been in the annex station- but he wasn't there
our plan was not to stop the guy
we were following him for the cops on the phone with 911 - so they would know where he was
then he passed out and almost hit 5 cars- he only woke up b/c Jake beeped at him- then we stopped him
he was about to get on the highway
it's not like we drive around looking for drunk drivers
