I don't think it is tacky at all. People will purchase what they feel comfortable purchasing. And like another poster said...if it is not purchased you might be able to get a discount on it depending on the registry rules!

I didn't put it on my registry, but my SMIL bought one for me and gave it to me at my shower. I was so surprised.

I dont think its tacky, that way, if it is not bought, you can use the %off they give you to close out your registry to buy it.

Agreed- this is why I had the Dyson on my wedding registry.

If you are registered at BRU, they don't send that coupon until after your due date, and I never got one (DS was a week early and I don't think it ever came in the mail after my due date)

Re: Is it tacky?

DH wants to buy me the glider and my parent's are buying the crib. I will say if I can't get a commitment on a dresser from my MIL, I may throw a dresser on there if I can find one I like at either store I'm registered for (not going to add a registry just for that). Some people are so concerned about the fact we aren't finding out the sex b/c they want to do pink or blue stuff - yet that's not what we need.

Bottom line, I don't think it's tacky. Sometimes several people go in together to buy a large gift. Worse that happens is you don't get it.

I felt that way also but then DH said if no one gets it we can get 10% off so just put it on. Also if someone wants to then they will know which one you like. They have so many there.
