Questions - I think DH has that stomach virus

I have a few questions for anyone who has had the awful stomach virus going around. DH's going to the doctor a little later -- but I was curious about other people's experiences in the meantime...

My DH's been sick since about 5am... Is it going to get worse before it gets better?

Also, he's in quite a bit of stomach pain. Did you have bad pain / cramping? He's moaning in pain -- and he is NOT the type to be dramatic when he's sick (quite the opposite actually).

Was your doc able to do anything for you, or were you just told to just drink fluids and tough it out? (He's going anyway - just curious if the doc was able to do anything.)

TMI warning -- He's not vomiting much (once or twice, I think), but having all the other stomach problems. Could it still be that virus?

And finally... am I doomed to get it? I feel fine, but I know this is highly contagious (and comes on suddenly). Everyone else I know who had it spread it to their entire household. Am I basically just counting my days until I get sick -- or did anyone else avoid it even if your spouse / child / etc. got it?

Yes, stomach pains, cramps the works.

So sorry he's sick.

Don't use his towels or anything else personal. Tonight change the sheets and do that again the next night if you want to be super safe.

I do that when one of us is sick.

Thanks, I figured it was the dreaded virus. He's miserable. I bought tons of gatorade this AM - just hoping he keeps it down.

I'll be changing / washing sheets daily until he feels better.

This is one sick day I DON'T want to have to take, too. I just feel so bad for him.

Sounds like the one. DS got it just before Christmas and then DH had it for Christmas. Somehow I didn't get it though.

The worst of it lasted about 3 days for both of them. There's really nothing you can do except hydrate.

Wash your hands OFTEN.

Hope he feels better soon.

Thank you. I'll be sterilizing / handwashing / doubling up on vitamins (LOL) for the next few days... Most importantly, I'll be making sure he's staying hydrated.

Poor guy. This virus really IS awful!

My DH just got over it yesterday... he had it about 4 days.

He didn't goto the doctor, we didnt think there was much the doctor could do. I was going to force him to the DR today if he was still suffering.

Luckily, I haven't gotten it (yet). Then again we've been sleeping separately for over 3 weeks now because I had a cold - then strep... then he got the cold, and then the stomach flu.

i had the virus earlier in the season. it hit me at 3am on a friday. i woke up with horrific stomach pains and vomited a LOT. i kept waking up through the night and had bad diarrhea as well.

i did not get out of bed until noon on saturday - so that's about 36 hours in bed. i had chills and sweats and was shaking and very weak. it really was the worst stomach pain i have ever felt.

i didn't go to the doctor because i could barely walk to the bathroom, but by saturday evening it seemed to have passed

DH got it on Christmas Eve morning and it hit him hard right away. No vomiting, just terrible stomach pain, he was freezing cold, fever, diarrhea. He was moaning and whimpering non-stop LOL. By the afternoon Christmas Day he was feeling better and was able to eat something. Another day of rest and then he was fine. I actually let him have the bed for three nights and I slept on the couch (we had company for Christmas using the guest rooms otherwise I would have slept in there). I didn't get it and neither did anyone else staying with us.

DH was moaning and groaning aobut how he felt like he had food poisioning....he vomited about 3-4 times and had diareha for three days. Very bad stomach cramping. Knock on wood I did not get it. I made sure that I wipes anything he touched with a Lysol disinfectant wipe and washed by hands constantly and forced myself not to touch my eyes or mouth. Dont worry the first day is the worst. The next few days are just the body getting back to normal.

DH had it...it last for 2-3 days..It happened the day we were moving I didn't get it...Thank the good Lord

i got it last fri-woke up at 2 am n started yakking. n the other end too
i really didnt have stomach pains, but i was very weak, chills, and i did moan in pain lol

im still not feeling 100% better, but please tell him to drink gatorade-with lots of ice, flat coke w/ice, crackers, pretzels, etc.

also get coke syrup! it works!

I had it for the past two weeks... I lost my appetite for two weeks and than finally I threw up twice and had INTENSE abdominal pain, but after that I was ok... Just exhausted for a few weeks. I work in a hospital, so they just said obviously keep hydrated with Pedialyte and half water/half gatorade... There really isn't anything the doctor can do unless you're really dehydrated. I didn't want to eat, but they said I had to also.. Nobody else in my family got it, so hopefully you won't!
