Is it ok

to eat Turkey Bacon? I know cold cuts are a no No, but what about turkey bacon?

Sure, just don't eat too much of it because it's high in sodium. I'm pretty sure it has no nitrates.

i've been having regular bacon.....so in my book turkey bacon is okay, nobody ever told me not to eat it!

I buy nitrate free bacon. I am more concerned about the nitrates than the sodium.

BTW...nitrates are killed in a microwave according to my uncle who is a chef. so if you make bacon in the microwave, you're okay nitrate wise

Nitrates are not something you can kill. They are added to hot dogs, cold cuts, and other processed foods in order to combat botulism. Once the nitrites are digested in our guts, however, they can form nitrosamines, which are considered possibly carcinogenic.

ETA: Obviously everything in this world has something bad in it to one extent of another, so moderation & a balanced diet should be key.

"kill" may be the wrong word. "reduce/get rid of" may be better.

i trust my uncle 100%. he is a master chef at a well known place and knows his food. if he tells me that microwaving it 'gets rid of" it, i believe him.
