In Law Vent...LONG!!
So, here's the situtation. My in-laws were suppose to come to see the 3D sono we were having on Saturday...we canceled it because we found out the sex at the begining of the week! In-Laws live in Jersey. (I waited until they said they didn't care to cancel, in case they really wanted to see it!) They said they would come out anywway to see our house decorated for Christmas, etc. We wanted to tell everyone the sex of the baby by letting them open it with their Christmas present. They made us promise that if they came out, we would tell them the sex...so fine. They never make the effort to come out...so I knew it wouldn't actually happen...I was right, they canceled.
My family is coming over my house on the 23rd to celebrate Christmas. We are going to my in-laws on the 24th and 25th(I'm not happy about it, I'm sucking it up and doing it). They told my husband that we have to call them when my parents find out the sex because they don't think that it's fair that we tell my parents before them!!! 
I feel that 1)we would have told them first on Saturday had they made the effort to come out...2) I want to tell everyone in person...3)I get to sepnd Christmas with my family for a few hours on the 23rd...she gets me for 48 hours on the 24th and 25th. I don't want to spend all this time on the phone with them while my family is over!
Am I overreacting with my pregnancy hormones?? Should I just suck it up and tell them??? Sorry so long! Thanks for listening!

I agree. They missed out - their loss. They can wait an extra 24 hours after your family to find out.

I would stick to your guns and tell them in person ~ spend time with your family ~ and your in-laws will see you the next day (+they had there chance)

I would just tell your parents when you were going to do it and then call them right after... Then after 5 minutes tell them that you are seeeing them tomorrow and you can talk then... if they are annoyed than tough!!!
Is this the first grandchild for both sides of the family??? If it is there will be many things like this that occur, trust me and you are just going to have to pick your battles...

Kelly- tell them on YOUR TERMS!! Don't worry about pleasing everyone. It's your decison to tell them at ALL so you just hold onto little  identity as long as your little heart desires.
Gosh- like you need THAT additional stress! People are SOO fickle with the whole "who finds out first" saga. Don't let it stress u!

Maybe have DH gently remind that THEY would have been 1st to know if they'd come over Saturday. And besides........tell them it is rude to be on the phone while you have company

The only thing that I would offer is putting them on speaker phone while you tell your family. And I would only do that if you guys weren't seeing them for some time. Being that you're seeing them the next day I would explain to them that you want to tell them in person with the rest of the family.
