For girls who commute into manhattan

How long do you plan on working. Will u work up to the very end? Being at work won't be the problem, its the long commute i worry about.

Re: For girls who commute into manhattan

I plan on working until I no longer can.

My commute is about 1:45 door to door. I sleep 90% of the time. The other 10% is on the subway. It really doesn't bother me so much that I would have to stop working because of it.

I always get a seat on the train and my subway ride is only 8 minutes.

Re: For girls who commute into manhattan

Up until I can't take it anymore, which I hope is the very end. I'm starting to get more aggressive with people though... I'm 8 months pregnant. I cast a shadow at least 20 feet wide and people pretend they don't see my belly! Chat Icon

This morning I stood in front of this schmuck who was awake until I stood in front of him (pregnant women are the cure for insomnia). Then, 2 minutes later he heard a different train pull in across the platform so he woke up, but hit me in the belly in his rush to get off the train. And yet *I* would be the bad one if I punched him in the head. Chat Icon

I have 6 weeks left in my pregnancy but honestly, I think I have only another 3 weeks of restraint.

Re: For girls who commute into manhattan

I am trying to work for as long as I can. Just started talking with my bosses to see if I can work from home in February (my last month) so I don't have to commute or deal with the weather.

Re: For girls who commute into manhattan

I am trying to work as long as I can but at 33 weeks I've had enough already. I am a teacher so luckily in 2 and 1/2 weeks I have off for a week. The problem will be going back after the vacation. I want to atleast make it two more weeks after that which would put me right at my due date. We will see.....

I worked up until the day I went into the hospital with #1, and will probably do the same for #2.

I plan on working until I'm really uncomfortable. My commute now is 1.5 hrs door to door.

Re: For girls who commute into manhattan

My commute is about 1 hour. I hope to be able to work right up until the end.

Fortunately I have some friends in law enforcement that drive to Manhattan every day and have parking privileges, I might be able to get a ride to the city towards the very end if I am desperate.

Re: For girls who commute into manhattan

As long as I possibly can. I am due April 12th. My commute is over 2 hours each way.

Maybe I can work from home the month of April.

I give you girls credit. I would hate to commute so far every day especially while pregnant! Chat Icon

I only made it to 36 weeks. I couldn't take the express bus anymore....or my job. I had hyperemesis though and was starting to show signs of preeclamspia, so my doctor took me out at 36 weeks.
