How far along are you? I was wondering when the internals start.

Re: Internals
It is very similar to having your annual check-up. You will feel a little uncomforable, but you will be okay. You may feel a little cramping afterwards and you may bleed a bit. (I did)

Re: Internals
I go for my first this week at 38 weeks as well. I have heard you can bleed but I know a lot of people who didnt. My dr said I will get used to it, but it will be uncomfortable at first. A friend said it hurt a bit when her dr was "poking around"

Re: Internals
They aren't fun - but they aren't as bad as I thought they would be.
Kind of like a pap - just a little bit more pain.
I used to stare at a spot on the ceiling and count to 10 - then it would be over.
Also, they are not mandatory - if you don't want to get one just tell your dr. I couldn't resist - I always wanted to see if I was dialated (I never was )

Re: Internals
I never bled after internals. They're not pleasant, but they're not painful either.

Re: Internals
I had a little bleeding, but not any big deal. They are like the internals you get at your regular appts., maybe slightly more uncomfortable, but not much.
I suppose you can tell your doctor you don't want it, but this is really the only way they can tell if you are dilated or effaced, so I wanted to have it done for that reason.

Re: Internals
I found them to be uncomfortable, but not really painful. Afterwards I usually had cramping and some spotting.

Re: Internals
Im getting one this Friday at my 37 week appointment. Technically it should have been my first one, but since I was hospitalized I had several back in my 29th week....I did not bleed after any of them. They were slightly uncomfortable, although I must say it depended on who did them. When the resident in the ER did it to me it hurt....when my ob/gyn did it, it just felt like a pap(maybe even less).
