Can you be induced just because you want to get the baby out???

Because I'd really like to do that. I don't want to wait anymore!

I wanted to be but Dr. said I had to wait till Monday, thankfully DD was born on Saturday. I really couldn't take waiting anymore either. If they induce you too soon you are likely to end up with a c-section.

urrrrrrr NO it is done under your doctors and your descion if the baby is overdue or in difficaulty.

i was induced due to preclampsia and my son wasnt growing properly it isnt something i reccomend it was very intense.

if only it was that easy i dont think any woman would go 40 weeks hang in there it will all be worth it i promise

I'm being induced because I have GD. My baby is measuring on the bigger side according to my dr. and he doesn't want her to get to over 9lbs and then for me to have a difficult delivery.

most of the time induction is reserved for instances of medical necessity, although if the situation is right (ie how ripe your cervix is) they might do it for reasons of convenience depending on the doctor.

i was offered induction at 39 weeks because i was 3cm dilated and 90% effaced, so my chances of having a normal vaginal delivery were very good.

i really, really wanted to do it... but i didn't. better to let nature take its course, imo... even if the increased risk of c-section was minimal, why take it?
i ended up going naturally just 3 days later.

No. If your body isn't ready for labor than you have a bigger chance of a c-section after a failed induction.

I was induced at 39 weeks due to preeclampsia.

I had to wait until I was 5 days late before my doctor would even consider it. I was induced when I was a week late.

I was induced at 37w5d due to tearing. My induction went fabulously, but if your body is not ready, it will not work as planned and you could end up with a c-section.

Nope. I have a big baby but am not dilated and only a little effaced, and my doc won't do it. I'm having a scheduled c-section instead. She said if you are induced w/out being ready (dilated, effaced) c-section is likely, so for me we decided to keep the baby where he is for as long as possible.

I do not think any "good" doctor will induce you just cause you want to be induced...the baby will come when he/she is ready.....hang in there

I did have a c-section due to a blood disorder that I have and wound up with a c-section due to fetal distress,. I had a GREAT experience

depends on the practice/Dr.

I chose induction both times--the 1st was offered, the 2nd was more choice.

I happen to go to a practice where they are pro-"social induction"

Unfortunately, yes, some doctors will induce for reasons like that. But a GOOD doctor will not.

I know how frustrating it can be towards the end, but it really is best for the baby that he/she decides when to come out, unless of course you are too far overdue or have a medical condition!

I was induced at only 4 days overdue with my daughter. I was actually in the hospital in false labor due to dehydration. My doctor was going to send me home, and I begged, cried, and since I was slightly dilated, she kept me and induced me. My daughter was NOT ready and I ended up with a c/s after about 8 hours of NOTHING happening from full dosage of pitocin. She was perfectly healthy, but it was not how I wanted to deliver her.

I know I am just super anxious. I just feel like it's never going to happen.

I know it's best to let nature take its course. But why does nature have to be so freakin' slow?!?!
