Re: Is DVR really worth it?

I hate cablevision but love the DVR (had TIVO before).

I never have to buy tapes, feel a slave to the tv (I can watch when I am ready/have free time), no rushing to go home not to miss a show. I love the "rewind" function if you just missed what somebody said on TV.

I love DVR.

Re: Is DVR really worth it?

we had it in our old apartment and we loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was so convient for us.

we just moved into a house and got the triple play package and DVR service was free or the year!

I am a big fan of it. When our shows are on and we have to go out it is no big deal! or if 2 things are on that we wanna see!

I don't even watch that much tv, but I really like having the DVR feature. It's so easy to use too.

Re: Is DVR really worth it?

I have one of the older DVRs through DishNetwork, when they switched from the original style, that they outsourced, to their own in-house type. Because they switched, there was no monthly fee. It's getting a bit old now, so we'll probably need to replace it soon (especially with the all-digital issue coming up in 1.5 years). Even if we have to start paying per month, it is definitely worth it. I think we've had our DVR for about 6 or 7 years now.

YES YES YES!!!!!!

It changed our lives!!! I know that is pretty pathetic, but we were no longer slaves to our tv and to yankee games anymore, if we came home 10 minutes late it was not a big deal.

Re: Is DVR really worth it?

We rarely watch live tv anymore.

DH and I go to bed early due to when we have to wake up. He was missing all of the good shows from 9 pm on.

We also find we watch tv more efficiently now. FF through commercials and don't just sit flipping through nothing.

Of course, this was all pre-kids. Now we only watch the DVR and for very few shows.

Re: Is DVR really worth it?

DEFINITELY worth it! You watch tv when YOU want to. Plus, you can try new shows and not have to remember to watch every week. Just DVR it and watch when you are ready.
