Curious (it is poll), if you are 30, 31, 32, 33 please answer my poll?
What do you think you should have? I think I am doing okay, I just want to see where other people my age are at.

I probably should have more than I have, but I am about to start a job that has a pension....so I guess that will make up for lost times!!

I am 30- but didn't start working until I was 25 - and then I think I had to wait at least 6 months to start a 401K
so I am behind- but I am not concerned now- I am working on other goals first then I will make up by putting extra money in (once all my CC bills are paid off and we buy a house)

im 28 but im in the top tier of your poll
my company is very generous by matching 8% of everything we put in.
since ive been vested since 2001 and contribute the max, i am in this good position due to that

I have both a 401k and a separate Roth IRA. I started the Roth as soon as I got a job and I try contribute at least $1,000 a year to it, more when I can.
The bulk of my money is in my 401k though which has been doing really well lately. I contribute 10% of my salary to my 401k.

I'm 32 and I'm over 75K. I've been working since I was 23 (well that was the first job with retirement) and my company matches $3 plus for every $1 we put in.

I am 32 and I am in the 60-75K. I haven't contributed since I stopped working in 2003. I plan to start adding 3-5K a year from DH's bonus to my IRA starting this year since I am now a SAHM.

Thank you everyone for sharing.
I am 31, going to be 32 July 22
I was just trying to figure out how I am doing compared to other people in my age group.
We have the option to add more to our plan, so I have been for the last 6 years and it really has helped.
