*Spoiler* Anyone go and see the new Harry Potter film this weekend?
What are your thoughts on how they changed the story line around?
I missed the Quidditch scenes - and Harry being booted.
I didn't like how they made Cho the one who ratted on Dumbledore's Army
I did like the fiht scene at the end with Dumbledore and Voldemort - that was nice to see visually after rereading the book a few weeks ago.

Re: Anyone go and see the new Harry Potter film this weekend?
I thought the movie was great-- there was a lot they didn't show that I felt was integral to the book, but that's always the case the HP movies... Taking an 800 page book and making it a two hour movie has to have some sacrifices.
It's been a long time since I have read book 5, so I don't remember all the details-- but there were a couple of things that I initially reacted to-- the fact that Snape is part of the order of the phoenix, and the relationship b/t Harry and Tonks and Kingston, etc. and spending more time at Sirius' house learning more about it.
Also-- I forget what the deal was with the house elf-- there was something fishy there.

Re: Anyone go and see the new Harry Potter film this weekend?
I saw it at the IMAX theatre yesterday...the fight scene was in 3D which was very cool.
I haven't read the 5th book since it came out, so to me the movie was good. I also have a very short attention span at the movies so 2 hours and 15 mins was good for me.
I did miss the Quidditch scenes too but overall, I really enjoyed the movie.
In the book, from what I remember, the creature is the one who rats out the order and I heard he was supposed to be cut out completely from this movie, but JK Rowling insisted they put him in so I'm guessing he plays a part in the next book.

ITA with you but I guess they can't put it all into a 2 hour movie. I thought it was a good book and movie. It really is just the set up book and movie for the rest.

I loved the movie, but I also do not have the book to compare it to since I have not read it yet. I think I am going to read the final 2 books though in time for the next movie (my goal . . .)
My DH, having read the book liked the movie but was disappointed with the changes and the cut-outs.

I haven't read the book since it came out, but I thought the important stuff was there and they left out the fillers. Which, I thought was great, cuz it ended up being a normal length movie. I don't know how they could have included everything.

I liked it but I liked the last one better...I def. missed the Quidditch games, in fact I kept waiting for them to play And I thought the whole "Hagred is on a leave of absence" thing stank..and Dumbledore and the lady witch (the headmistress i think she is) were not in it as much as I would have liked.

i liked it but was frustrated by the fact that the longest book in the series was the shortest movie.
