Gift Idea for a US MaRine ?
A family member is serving our country, we're so proud of him.  
HE's now stationed in the US (hasnt been deployed, we hope he wont be deployed  ).
He's coming home for a month, and they're having a get together for him.
Any ideas on what type of gifts to get him. He's single mid-20's.
We got him a nice Swiss Army knife last year and cant remember what else.
Any ideas, I was thinknig of also throwing in a journal for him to write in. Would it have to be a "lock and key" journal, I happend to buy a camouflage journal to write in for my boys last week. I can pick him up one as part of his gifts.
One cousin told me to get him a GC to eat somewhere.
Suggestions would be great, thanks!

get a few people to chip in for a laptop, or a video cam. A camera, or a CD player with CDs
I wouldn't suggest an ipod, time is limited, downloads are not alwasy guaranteed during your tour, the heat sometimes affects the ipod (they have no AC), So, while an ipod is a great gift, make that his coming home gift. Phone cards are great a good pair of headphones, books on tape (can you tell I work with Marines

They have great Marine Corps gifts. My husband is a Marine and loves it when I get him stuff from their magazine
The GC for a restaurant is a great idea, as are all the electronics suggestions. If you do get a journal, don't get a lock & key one - the other guys would likely make fun of him for having a diary. He'll have a locked bureau to keep all his stuff in at the barracks, so he won't have to worry about anyone reading it anyway.

We got my DH's cousin a pair of sneakers when he came back from deployment. If you're not comfortable picking them out then get a GC to a sneaker store. It ended up a huge hit as he really needed them!

dont get him anything "marine Corps" its cute in the beginning of their career- but gets old fast---( DH is air force and he hates AF gifts)
Id say the phone cards and gift cards to places are the best--- guys love them- and it comes in handy before the 1st and the 15th....
if hes into sports-- and u know where hes staioned-- try getting baseball tixx or concert tixx... the guys appreciate that--

But he's kinda at the beginning of his career so maybe he doesnt have much yet ?  I wanted to personalize something (with his title/name).. is that super corny?
Canyou ask your DH which ones he DOES like (that he got early on)..
I also want to get his mom a MARINE MOM t-shirt too.

Holy crap Anna - I was going to start a post like this! 
My nephew just finished 13 weeks of basic training and he's coming home for 8 days this Friday!  My brother and SIL are having a welcome home party Sat night and we want to get him something.
He's going to NC next for 3 weeks of combat training  and on to CA for 8 more weeks of training. Then he'll be assigned his PDS.
Anyway, these are some great ideas. I think I'll check out that website. I just don't want to give him cash. 
May God watch over all our precious men and women out there.
