MORE contractions, another night in L&D, new meds...need prayers; UPDATE pg 2
well... the meds the doc gave me originally to stop my contractions (procardia) didn't work and last night i had a run of 6 painful contractions in 13 minutes 
so BACK i went to the hospital, where i got terbutaline, which worked like a charm. so now i am home and will be on that for the near future.
the GREAT news remains - my cervix is long, thick, and fully closed. no signs whatsoever that i am effacing or dilating.
but no one has any idea what is bringing on these contractions. the doc said it's probably "irritable uterus"... which definitely was NOT in my OB textbook in med school!! will have to look that up 
i am only 26 weeks tomorrow... please send me prayers that my little guy stays put for a long, long time

Hang in there!! Your in good hands with the dr's.
Remember I had a very very short, semi thin cervix with contractions at like 25 weeks on and I only delivered 4 days before my due date.

I started having contractions at 28 weeks, and I went to the hospital 6 times (I think) to have them monitored. Did the dr give you an FFN to see if you will go into labor within the next two weeks. I go these consistently every 2 weeks up until I was 36 weeks, and everytime it came back negative I felt so much better!! If your dr didnt do this, maybe you can ask them about it.

yes, i had the FFN on friday, at 25w4d and it was negative. i assume i will be having one every 2 weeks too.

saying a prayer for you right now. I know how scary it is. I am on terbutaline too and when I can take it it works. Keep us posted and take care of yourself.

This is exactly what happened to me. My doc could find no reason for the contractions, and said irratable uterus.(I had alot of heavy bleeding too, though) and I was put on the terbutalene and I was on it for 3 weeks. A few days after I stopped taking I had my baby. I will be praying that your little one stays in there as long as possible.
