Customer service at Ikea
OMG-I know that this is probably one for the home board but I wanted more people to read about the stupidity I had to deal with.
I had to point out many mistakes in my kitchen order many times. Ten minutes after my order was delivered, my phone rings and I had a conversation with a man who sounded as if he was high. Here's how it went:
him : "Uhhh hello ma'am? I'm just calling to let you know that your order is here. You can pick it up anytime this week."
me: "Ummm, actually my order is HERE. It was just delivered."
him: "huh?"
OK, fast forward to today. So, my contractor tells me that I can return one of the $98 wooden panels. However, I can't fit the large item in or on my Jeep. I call customer service to see how much it would cost to have them pick it up. I clearly explain that I want to return the panel, it is in my house but it won't fit...yadda yadda.
She proceeds to tell me that the store will hold on to the panel for 24 hours and that I can pick it up any time today. I'm like
I then explain it again and she said, "Well, it's up to you, you can return it yourself or have it delivered." Again, I'm like
I explain it again and ask how much the fee is. She said, "What fee?" I said, "Will they pick it up for free?" she replies, "NOOO ma'am, there is a fee." I said, "THAT'S the fee I'm talking about!"
She puts me on hold and tells me that it is the regular delivery fee. Again, I ask what the price is, she puts me on hold, and tells me (drum roll please)........"The fee is $99."
"Soooo, it will cost me a dollar to return the item after my refund? I might as well keep it and save the dollar." She replies, "True Dat!"

Re: Customer service at Ikea
i'm going to share this with dh, he works for ikea NOT at a store, at the distribution center.
some people are just so stupid!
oh, i have to share this little story with you.
one day, soon after buying our house, we had to run to ikea. it was in the evening and dh was still wearing his work clothes. as we're walking around, a lady approaches him. he said, "i'm sorry i don't work at THIS ikea." so she smiles and asks, " you work HERE??" he had to then explain, "no ma'am, i work at ANOTHER ikea!"
