What a TRAIN WRECK!!!
She ripped up the photo in protest of how the church was (not) handling child molestation at the hands of priests. It was never b/c she was denouncing the religion - she has always been devoutly catholic.
I adore her and was so upset when I heard her show here in NY was sold out - I think it is/was some time this week.

She has been ex-communicated from the Roman Catholic church, I believe. Not because of the ripping incident, but because of being part of a made up spin off religion of some sort, I wouldn't classify her as a devout Catholic, that is for sure.
She was excommunicated because she was ordained by an Independent Catholic group. So I would say, yes she is a devout Catholic.

I'm not sure if she was excommunicated either but she caught flack because she was ordained...and as catholics know, women are not allowed to be ordained in their faith.
I will stand corrected on the devout catholic comment...as of late she has take up with the rastafarian religion. Up until then she has always been a devout catholic.

this was not directed at you-it was just a clarification on my part, in response to micheller
actually Colleen, you did say she was "devoutly Catholic". And I was just reporting what wikipedia said about her being excommunicated. I never said "Roman Catholic" either.
Also, I didn't see that she's a rastafarian now.

Sorry, I worded that wrong. I meant that when I posted that she was a Catholic, I hadn't read yet that she was a rastafarian. It is on her wikipedia page, but I just didn't read down that far.
