She needs to RUN, not walk, in the other direction... It's a good thing you called his cell phone as that's a huge red flag.
She can do way better than that creep. How do we even know he was really in Iraq?
And who on earth comes home from Iraq and like a week later "goes away on business" -- 
Way too many red flags. At least she got pretty flowers out of it.

My first thought was that maybe something was honestly messed up with the cell phone - a few years ago, there was some really weird thing going on with DH's phone - it was like numbers were crossed - every so often you would call the phone and get a voicemail from a girl - then you would call a second later and it would be his phone/voicemail - very odd - this is after DH had this number for a long time - - but since you said you think it's the same voice as the Yvette message, it does sound shady

Sounds like one shady guy-I would tell her to stay away from him before she gets hurt...He sounded like such a nice guy a few weeks ago!

I totally agree. Also, I remember reading a previous post saying that he was in Iraq and got home and right away was around to date her. IMO that doesn't make sense because when you get home from deployment you are not back in your house the next day. You are on base at least week.
I am sorry for your friend but tell her to RUN!!!

Awwwwww, I feel so bad. I remember reading how happy she was. I do think she should call him on it, so he doesn't get away with it. But after that, she needs to run far away.

Unfortunately I agree with everyone else... Something seemed off to me when you first posted aobut your friend and her interation with this guy... the soldiers over in Iraq have very little access to phone and internet, so how he was communicating with her for several weeks is beyond me... also, when you come home from Iraq, you don't just get off the plane and go to the house you live in, there's a huge discharging process that they need to go thru.... I wouldn't trust this guy if my life depended on it and for your friend's sake, I PRAY that he doesn't know where she lives....

exactly what i was thinking! i have 2 friends who each did two tours in Iraq and both times they came back, they had to have a period of "reintegration"... counseling, etc before they could go home or go on leave to see their families or anybody. they wouldn't be available right away to go out with people.
this whole thing sounds waaay too fishy, and its not like she has a lot of time vested in this relationship... i would tell her to run! if hes serious, he'll come back to her..

Actually, after reading more posts, I do want to revise my answer. I'm usually the type of person who will confront a person if I think he/she is lying. But this may be a dangerous situation. She should probably just stay far away and not contact him again.

Yes, I agree - don't confront him. To put things in perspective, she met him ONCE... and it appears he's a giant LIAR. It's better for her to just block his # and not contact him again.
I hope she didn't give him a lot of personal info like her last name, address, home phone number.

UPDATE: OK! SO...
he calls her, like nothing. She goes, "Um, I tried to call you and your cell says something about an Yvette." He pretends he has no idea what she's talking about. So, I call back later (I admit it; 7th grade) with my number as restricted and NOW it says: Leave a message!
Nothing about Yvette, etc! And, I can tell it's the same voice. I told her to steer clear of this guy; what if he's some pimp?! OMG........
At first, I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I figured since HE gave her the number, it must be his sister, cousin, etc.
But, nope, now that he's denying it, I totally think he's married.
