Re: Bereavement Help - Cross Post Sorry

Sorry, I wouldn't send something like that. I don't know that I would be offended, but it's a bit too "commercial". It's essentially a pre-packaged "loss of father" gift. JMHO.

How about a donation in his name to a charity they like?

Re: Bereavement Help - Cross Post Sorry

Ok, I feared this.
That is why I frantically posted.
I don't want to wait much longer. It's been weeks since his passing and I feel just awful that I haven't done anything yet. This is my close friend. Aargh! I wonder if I should donate to a cancer org (he died from the radiation) or the org she works for which is close to her heart. Opinions?

having a good friend who was there for me....and called me to check up on me.

I can't speak as someone who has lost a parent (thankfully), but I see that as a very thoughtful gift.

Re: Bereavement Help - Cross Post Sorry

I lost both my parents......I would Def. NOT want a book around constantly reminding me of my losses.... It's great that you fell you want to "give" something........IMO give yourself...your time....a hug...a listening ear......I think that is what would be needed more....I'm sorry for their loss......

I completely agree.

I don't think gifts are appropriate when someone dies -- though I know others feel differently. It's not a gift-giving occasion. Flowers, yes. Donations, yes... but not gifts.

Re: Bereavement Help - Cross Post Sorry

while i can't speak for those who have lost a parent, I think that those kind of books could be helpful, but I agree with some of the other posts that it seems too 'pre packaged'. i like the idea of a donation. or something like this maybe?
