Have you ever heard....
Of a baby shower for the babies grandmother?????
I just got an invitation to a shower for my best friend's mother ... my best friend just had her baby about 2 months ago..
IMO, this is the strangest thing I have ever seen. Why would I buy a gift for this?
My mom even got one and she is a soon to be grandmother and SHE thinks it's wierd!!!

Oh why not....grandmas could use a ton of picture frames, some photo albums, a gift certificate to a photo place etc....
Although it isnt the norm I think its sweet.

WHAT??? That is wierd in my opinion.
Its not my problem to purchase the grandmother gifts so she can babysit her grandchild - im assuming thats why she needs a baby shower?
What are they going to think of next!

what? never heard of that? What do you even buy as a gift? Baby stuff for the grandparents house?? That would annoy me (like fishing for gifts) and I wouldn't go!

Um, yeah, but I checked her "registry" (which by the way lists her as the mother because there is no such thing as a grandmother registry) and it has a stroller, high chair, baby clothes among other things...
I am not even responding to this invitation!

The women my mom works with gave her a "Granny Shower".
I think mostly because she always contributes to everyones wedding/baby showers at work and they wanted to do something nice for her.
She got some nice gifts for us, but also for her.
Someone gave her a book called "Grandmother Remembers". It makes me cry because it is for her to write things to Taylor about her memories of growing up and her life.

The thing that gets me the most is that they live in California. They know that I am pregnant and there is absolutely no way I can go to this... it really feels like it is just fishing for a gift. Ugh!

I think it's very strange and kind of takes away the attention from the mom-to-be. Unless it's a situation where the grandmother is going to be raising this child as her own, why would she need a baby shower? Is the grandmother the type who can't stand to have attention placed on other people? Who is throwing it for her? Very weird.
