Re: Saturday's Dumb Question from a Stranger

You would think this way too, but head out in a double stroller for a quick trip to the mall that takes you 5 times longer because of all the questions and the twin stories everyone has to share. Everyone knows a twin and has a story to share.

Re: Saturday's Dumb Question from a Stranger
Hm I guess impressed isn't the right word -- I know I am impressed with my friends and family who have twins. I miscarried twins myself.
I guess I mean, they aren't so unusual as some people make them out to be....does that make sense??

I get what you mean, but it doens't stop the people from acting like you have all the time in the world to answer thier stupid questions and hear that thier sisters aunts uncle had twins in their family and they are 30 years old now.

Re: Saturday's Dumb Question from a Stranger
According to IVillage.com, the overall frequency of twins is 1.2% with 1/3 of those twins being monozygotic. Fertility treatments, of course, do raise this rate.
It's amazing that we all know so many twins considering they really aren't that common!

I don't really get this quote but whatever. We can all brag just as much as anyone with one kid does. I don't see what your point is to tell you the truth.
And yes, i don't care how many people anyone knows with twins, people come up to us A LOT. This is what makes me very hesitant to go out at times with the boys, because i get a number of people who want to stop and talk...and when they find out they are identical they go on and on about how can I tell them apart. I use to do it myself before i had twins so i totally understand why people do it. And i think I have all the reason in the world to feel good about it.

From reading and from friends who have them & their research, boy, girls is actually the most common kind

We still get lots of questions, we have boy/girl twins - no matter where we are at the very least one person will stop us to look at them. I am a proud momma of twins!!!!!

I have to agree with you Tracey. I am not sure I see the point in all of these posts. I feel like I am seeing a lot of backhanded compliments, followed by a hug?
Um, did we offend any one by having twins??

I think the point was that you're not special if you have a twins or maybe you're not special if you have a boy/girl set. Odd

Re: Saturday's Dumb Question from a Stranger
Regardless of who these comments are directed to, they are offensive me and many of the twin moms on here. Twins are a true blessing - it matters not if they are b/b, g/g, b/g, identical/fraternal, products of IVF or family history - and it certainly doesn't matter whether or not one type is more common than another. Each day dozens of people on parenting brag about their babies and other children. Do we take offense? Of course not b/c we are all parents and are all entitled to brag or share stories about our children. If you are not interested/put off/offended by stories (or what might be taken as bragging) there's an easy solution - don't read the posts.
