I got the results of my progesterone bloodwork
I just heard from the dr's office. The results of my progesterone were LOW/BORDERLINE, and based on my results the nurse said it is likely that I am not ovulating. If I am ovulating it is a "weak ovulation." I believe that I am ovulating because I get a thermal shift every cycle, so I must be a weak ovulater.
I have to go for another blood test on cd3 for TSH, FSH, and LH, and then I guess I will see my dr. after that.
Anyone who has had low progesterone, what should I expect to happen next? I am very afraid of drugs.

Re: I got the results of my progesterone bloodwork
Don't worry too much. You dr. will probably put you on Clomid to ensure O and progesterone suppositories from CD 14 until you get AF or a BFP and then likely keep you on them until 8-12 weeks along. It is VERY common and you needn't worry yourself sick over it. What did he mean by "weak ovulater"?

Is all I can offer. I don't know anything about it but we may be in it together. I know I'm ov'ing as the CBEFM says so but had a blood test done today to check my levels.

Re: I got the results of my progesterone bloodwork
I had a similar situation, although my doctor did diagnose me with PCOS. Apparently my body decided to stop ovulating on it's own.. go figure.. In any event, I'm on CD18 using Clomid this cycle. I'm still waiting to O. I was sure I was going to get a smiley face on my OPK today, because I've been feeling O pains all afternoon, but unfortunately, I did not get my smiley face.
Hang in there...(Trust me, I know easier said then done!) but you are taking all the correct steps heading in the right direction.

You should ask for copies of all your test results. What was the number? What cycle day are you on? Progesterone should only be high from right after you O until your next AF.

My friend had the same problem. No + on her OPK from day 12-19 with Clomid. She was so upset thinking she didn't O AGAIN even on Clomid and turns out she got pregnant that month. She is now 7 weeks. All I can say is keep on BDing!!!!!!!!

Re: I got the results of my progesterone bloodwork
I also wasn't producing much progesterone. So the the Dr. put me on 50mg of Clomid which did not have much effect. So we tried 100mg.....and I became pg that month. My is 8 weeks old thanks to clomid. There is no way I would have concieved without it. FM me if you have any questions.

Thanks! I may FM you if my dr. decides to put me on Clomid. My body does not handle any type of drugs well and I am worried about side effects. But, I will do whatever I have to do to get pregnant. Did you have to take progesterone too?

I went for the test on CD31, which was either 6 or 7 dpo.
It didn't cross my mind to ask for the number. The nurse just said it was low/bordeline for ovulation. I will get copies of everything when I go in for my visit, which will be after my cd3 bloodwork.
Thanks melijane, you are so helpful!

Nope the clomid was enough. After taking the clomid my levels jumped from 5 to 22 (thats with 100mgs of clomid). Ideally from what dr told me the number should be about 15 or higher. If my #s were about 8-10 they would consider putting me on suppositories. Good luck

its melijane posting from my sisters. Clomid produces stronger ovulation which produces larger and stronger corpeus lutem(sp?) this is what produces progesterone in pregnancy until about 12-14 weeks when the placenta takes over. My Dr may put me on Clomid depneding on the results of an endometrial biopsy to increase my progesterone. thsi may be all you need since you are getting your body to produce a stronger O therfore higher progesterone. My progesterone like Apb was ALWAYS low. In pregnancy it would be 11 or so. It really should be 20 or above. GL!
