Re: roslyn heights
It is the more affordable section of roslyn. there is a section with a lot of co-op's with in walking distance to the LIRR. It is close to the LIE and Northern States, and also not far from Historic Old Roslyn which has a lot of cute shops and restaurants. I think its a nice place to live.
Are you looking at co-ops or houses?

Re: roslyn heights
DH and I were looking at houses there at one point, and we loved the area. You're not far from Roslyn, which has a very cute little downtown area, and there are a nice collection of shops and restaurants on Willis Avenue also. As others have noted, you are close to the major highways.
We aren't buying there, only because we discovered the train line is not that great and we both work in the city. The trains run far apart, and tend to be delayed. You can drive into Manhassat or Mineola, but I heard somewhere that those lots fill up. If you don't commute that way though, definitely consider it.

Re: roslyn heights
I grew up there. What would you like to know about it? Feel free to FM me. Some real quick things:
1. good school district, kids are VERY competitive
2. Roslyn Hts isn't necessarily cheaper than roslyn. There are neighborhoods - Norgate, for example, that are in Roslyn Hts (though residents will call it East Hills) that can be just as pricey as Roslyn.
3. Very convienient to parkways, etc.
