I knew a guy once-- his wife was so obsessed with Disney that he actually questioned marrying her b/c it got so out of control.
She tried to turn the ENTIRE wedding into a Disney party and it looked like either a 8 year old's birthday or a Bat Mitzvah- So he tried to limit it a little, make it a little less like a "circus" that she was trying to make it into-- and she flipped-- so he ? marrying her.
He went through with it anyway He is NOT happily married by ANY means now... The one thing he asked her, seriously, was to not have characters show up at the wedding-- she had goofy, minnie, mickey and tigger come to the CHURCH and then the hall later on... He was mortifiied... And they hardly spoke on their HM (in Disney of course- she insisited) b/c they were in a huge fight over it b/c she promised him she would not and did it anyway.
Awesome.
I have a friend of a friend whose entire home is Disney. Every. Single. Thing. in their kitchen is Mickey. Every glass, fork, appliance, everything.
ETA- awesome example of over the top DisneyMania, not awesome that he's in a bad marriage.

I grew up loving Disney movies and I collect them for my future children and I have been to Disney twice.
However, I don't get the Disney clothes, themes, and what not. It's too much IMO.

OMG I thought I was bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to get married at disney
then i wanted a cinderella's castle ckae and to maybe name our tables after disney characters.
I think what I decided is little or no disney at my wedding, but I hinted heavily for a princess themed shower. I figured it was a good compromise because a shower is not a formal event, so it can be more on the fun side.
I would NEVER have characters at the church. In a milion years. if I did it AT disney, I'd have mickey and money come into the reception or something, but I would never have them at church, that's just insane, and i wouldn't have characters if it weren't AT disney world.

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...
I went as a teen (13) and I felt like I was in hell. I returned again with my family when I was 25 (my sister's idea) and can honestly say I enjoyed it.
I don't buy any of their merchandise, nor does WDW come to mind when I think of going away on a vacation, but to each their own.
I can understand the enjoyment of going to WDW. There's a purity, an innocence in going there. Besides that, the parks are well managed and very clean.
And like CaptainCharisma...I love the Muppets!! I wish they were on in the evening again, along with reruns of the Carol Burnett show!

Re: This is my opinion only....Disney Obsessions...
Disney's not really my thing, but I would say most people would call me obsessed with the Wizard of Oz.
I don't think there is a single room in my house that doesn't have SOMETHING Wizard of Oz in it.
Technically, probably a kids movie, but it has a lot of meaning in my life, so I enjoy it.
I also have tons of Peanuts and Muppets stuff, all the movies, songs on my MP3 and lots of collectables.
Add to that my DH's collection of swords and dragons and we have quite the interesting decor.
Gives things character.

imo, there are 2 types of people, those who go to disney and those who don't. there are those over the top disney freaks, and those that go and enjoy themselves for a week or whatever. but, it is an exhausting vacation. you never stop going. so i can get why people don't like it.
Yes, I feel this is true- and the most fair statement overall.
For me, I went when I was younger a few times (I want to say twice) and I would like to go once more WITH DH b/c I like to go to places and experience them WITH him (Plus, he has never been- his parents took him to Antigua and Guadalupe when he was 6 ) He was on cruises and stuff... I mean, I just think it would have been nice for him to see Disney when he was a BOY-- along with D.C. which he still has not seen either- Yet again, he went to Jamaica twice by the time he was ELEVEN... I think his parents were more into vaca's they could enjoy and just drag the kids along to than vaca's FOR the kids... My theory is supported also by the fact that he has never been to a Theme Park of ANY kind with them including Hershey. But Guadalupe and Nevis- very important at the age of six haha!
Anywho, that turned into a vent: I can see us going once more together, then taking the kids once or twice... But after that, like you stated above-- it is EXHAUSTING... It's a vaca that you do A LOT on so for me to go back again and again- IDK if I have the energy- The other thing is- I would like to see so many other places like all over Europe and other parts of this Country. I also want to see Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii again after our HM... So, that is why I guess I won't go again and again-- b/c there are SO many other things to see.
Once to do it together, 2 times or so with the kiddies and that's about it.

LOL! I knew what you meant- I laugh my arse off about it!! I mean, not about the whole "he's in a bad marriage thing" but the whole situation! It's just ridiculous-- the reason he went through with it: (his words) "it's too late now, we have been dating so long, the whole wedding is planned, let's just do it, I can't start over and try dating new- It won't work out and I'll end up alone"

LOL! This reminded me of something- KIND OF on topic but not really... Did anyone ever see that "True Life: I'm a furry"???? ON MTV??? OMG!!! I seriously had to TURN OFF the TV b/c there are these people that dress up in these big costumes (they are naked underneath) and they go to conventions to find other people to have sex with IN the costumes-- and they showed these two "characters" and they were humping in the costumes!!! My friends and I happened to be in the other room of a party-- all drunk-- just watching TV to pass the time and we came upon the show-- we were SCREAMING in horror!!!!
Anyone see that???

HOLY CRAP!!! LOL!!!! OK, never going to see THAT broadway show in the same way again!!
I wonder if you can "You Tube" search that MTV True Life episode-- that one and the "My parents are embarrassing" are the two hardest ones for me to watch. I happen to love the "I'm getting married" and "I am looking for love at the Jersey Shore" ones hahahaa!!

for our wedding, we wanted to do the following
have the lights go down
have the bridal party come in undetected.
Start up the Price is Right "Come on Down" Music
have the DJ invite each member of the bridal party to COME ON DOWN
and then we come in to the main Price is Right theme
