What exactly do you say to someone who...
repeatedly tells everyone around them how much they hate little girls and that if their baby turns out to be a girl, no one in their house will want to touch it and its "girl parts", then weeks later, they find out, in fact, it is a girl they are having? And, then they continue to talk about how disappointing it is to be having a baby girl?  What in God's name is wrong with people?

I hope for the baby's sake they don't mean what they say, and treat her with the love she deserves. Maybe they need a slap upside the head to make them realize how lucky they are.

Ew. I would tell them I would be happy to take the baby off their hands if they don't want it! They should just be happy they are blessed to be able to conceive and hope the baby is healthy.

Oh please, she's been around Ava and everytime she has been, she's said, "Ugh, I could NEVER deal with that!"
I told her she needs some serious therapy before that baby is born. I work with her and this is her second baby, she just had a baby last December and throughout that whole pregnancy and in between her current pregnancy, she talked about how she hates little girls. HELLO, you are a TEACHER, you deal with little girls EVERY, SINGLE DAY.

I can possibly understand why she could be resistant to having a girl. I myself have a sort of "fear" in having a girl. Just because I think it could be a harder challenge for me as a mother. But that's it. I would Never wish that I wouldn't have a girl. (but, I would consult the gender prediction chart first  )

I agree. What a terrible thing to say? A child and life is a blessing and that person should be appreciated and loved. I would remind them of that. I would say "that is a terrible thing to say".

I agree with every single word of this. I really don't think I could hold my tongue on this subject. I would not be nice and I would not beat around the bush. I would have to tell the person how utterly disgusting it is for her to be talking like that, ESPECIALLY since she is carrying a baby -- which she knows to be a girl!!! At this point I feel really very sorry for that little baby.

I actually feel bad that I posted this because it upsets me so much. I mean, not for nothing, I am a mom of a little girl. A little girl who is my world. How dare someone imply that my little girl is less than perfect because of her gender. And to be coming from a woman, too.
I think I'm going to say something again tomorrow. I mean, you don't know what the people around you are going through. You don't know who is ttc and who may have recently lost a pregnancy or whatever. It just upsets me to no end. The good thing is that I know I have support from the other women at work who are also outraged by her. Maybe we need to sit her down and tell her that she needs to keep her opinions to herself. It'll stop bothering me, then I hear her squeaky voice in my head and it makes me angry all over again.

Wait a minute, you mean a mother who is pregnant with her second child has since her first pregnancy been saying she HATES little girls
I'd probably tell her how sick she is given that she was a baby girl and I would tell her to pray that her baby girl (nor the parents of the little girls she teachers) never learn of the evil things she said about hating little girls.

It's not even her opinions that are the real issue here -- its' the fact that she feels this way at all while carrying this baby. Maybe somebody who she respects needs to sit with her and have a real chat with her about the way she feels and how it is going to impact that little life not even yet here!
