How the heck do you fix that?
So my genius husband broke the drain in the bathroom. ya know the piece that stops the water from draining.
HOw the heck do you fix that? I think I might have to replace the whole drain (great thats like $80) but how do you get the old one out? Its a pedestal sink if that matters?
this is the piece he broke, he tried to pull it out so the little plastic piece that locks it in on the bottom, broke off

If he is handy, you can go through the pipes underneath (I watched DH put ours in) there should be some kind of hook that hooks the drain part to the lever part.

Maybe he can detach the sink from the wall and pipes and tip it over?
Turn off the water line first!

Ours is broken too. We used Gorilla Glue (from Home Depot) and it held for awhile...but broke again. Right now we use pliers to pull it up  until we have a chance to re-glue or replace.

i'm a genius also, b/c i broke ours, too 
no idea how to fix it.. we just left it broken. DH figured that even if he fixed it, i'd jsut break it again anyway

but were you pulling on it to see how it works?????
My DH is not handy at all. Looks like I am going to have to call a plumber. 
he would be fine leaving it open, but I can just see DS's toys making a home in there

Pauline, just buy one of those rubber stoppers. How often do you have to pull up the drain in a sink? Thank goodness it wasn't the bathtub!
