It's never occurred to me that someone would try to kill me, but I've led a pretty non-eventful life. There isn't a lot of quiet time in my house plus I shower with superheroes in the tub. I could always fling an action figure if necessary.
Yeah, but you are lucky. You have some superheroes to protect you.

I am crying I am laughing so hard... I do all of this... I was taking a shower last night and was terrified when I opened the bathroom door a killer was going to be there on the other side So I say YAAAAA ..loud to scare (the killer away) ... It worked LOL

if im home alone, i always fear someone is goin to come in
funny, but sad story:
in HS, one year i went it from 10-3
one morn i was gettin ready, and i heard somoene storm in, go to the kitchen door and then i heard glasses clinking together--
i immediately went in my room, took a pair of scissors ( W T F?) and ran in my mothers room, under the bed w/the fone, n called 911.
i told them that i thought a burglar was in the house--
as soon as i hung up the fone-i heard the vacumn cleaner switch on
it was my mother,, of course-and within 2 min, 4 police cars surrounded my house
then i had to explain why i didnt go to school till 10;00 lololol

Mel, do you watch Law & Order. I find that when I watch on TNT, I start getting SUPER paranoid.
I keep weapons around me at all times. I took jui jitsu...and thankfully, my father raised us to be fighters. I am a bit violent , but I am always up to defend myself.
if dh takes longer than his expected ETA running to the park, I get "locked and loaed" ready to go run up there and "save" him, or God forbid, get him some help. usually he comes within a few minutes, but he can already tell where my mind has been. He thinks I am silly...I think I am loca

I think I'm more afraid of the dark, if anything. When I'm going upstairs to bed, and I turn off all the lights I have to RUN up the stairs to turn on the bathroom light. I do sometimes look out when I'm in the shower, but it's mostly when its dark and I'm either alone or DH fell asleep on the couch and I'm leaving him there.

No actually just the opposite...you know those horror movies when the girl hears a noise and goes down to the basement to check it out - that's me! I always think "Nah it can't be!"

I do the same thing. At night I have to fall asleep with the tv on and it is usually around 11:30-12 and I get up when DS gets up. Last night it was 1:30! It is the worst when DH goes out after work to a baseball game because he doesnt get home until 10:30 and I sit in bed with the phone and the computer and dog.

yes! When I am home alone, I am super-paranoid. If there is a hang up phone-call, it is someone out to get me, or if I hear something outside. It is the worst if I just saw a scary movie.......

I'm the same way, if i'm home alone and in the shower, any slightest noise i might hear scares me. I always check to make the door is locked. When I'm outside and streets are scarce I always feel like I have to stay really alert in case someone jumps out or something.

Well then I'm crazier than all of you! If my husband is out and i am home with my TWO BIG dogs(90 lbs and 110 lbs) they bark at every little thing. I keep my cell phoen and reg. phone by the bed. Under my bed I have a Louisville Slugger, a broken pool cue(you can use it for hitting or stabbing if necessary, and a large butcher knife-yes i know i am psycho.

I dont worry that someone is out to kill me but I get nervous when I am followed by the same car for more than a reasonable amount of time when I am driving.

Speaking of the shower thing- I always pull back the shower curtain when I go to the bathroom- to make sure nobody is hiding in there.
I don't know what I'd do if I actually found someone in there...probably drop dead of a heart attack!

I always feel like someone is watching me when I take a shower.
I also get really paranoid about ghosts being in my apartment when I watch Ghost Hunters. I have to have every light in the apartment on.

like if you hear a noise in the house - or if you are showering alone? i cant tel lyou HOW many times I will peep out of the shower cutrain looking to see if someone is there when i am showering and DH is not home.
i swear my house is locked up like fort knox however i still feel "scared" and i live in one of the safest cities!
i will be laying in bed and if i dont hear my husband tinkering around i will call out his name because i will get worried that "the murderer" got him

I ALWAYS peep out of the shower if I am in there alone. I HATE that feeling! I live in a condo, so I hear noise all the time from the neighbors and it always sounds like someone is in my apartment. I was alone last night and as I was sitting on my couch watching T.V., I was plotting my escape route out the window when the "killer" breaks in my house

I do. All the time. In fact, I wake Dh up at least once a week because I "heard" something. But, to my defense, that has a lot to do with the fact that growing up we had 6 robberies - 4 of which while we were HOME in the middle of the night (nothing like waking up to daddy yelling from downstairs "Estelle, call the cops, there's someone in the house!" and there's REALLY nothing like a police officer saying in front of a 6 year old "we searched the house but just so you know, he may still be lurking somewhere in the house" - hence, no sleep for about 10 years) and the last one, which I've described on here before, when two men broke into the house when I was home alone and chased me as I ran out...
So, yes, you are NOT alone.

I feel this way also sometimes. It's more when I am out of my element and not at home. At FH's co-op, if someone rings the doorbell when he is not there with me (esp @ night) I won't answer the door because he does not have a peep hole and I can't see who's on the other side. I get freaked like this all the time.
At home, I am a little more relaxed because I live in a basement apartment and my landlord (lives upstairs) and is a close personal friend of the family. So they are always downstairs with me watching TV in their den. Even when they go to bed, they leave the basement door open at the top of the stairs and I leave my inside door open so I never really feel alone.
You are NOT crazy though Miss. Don't worry!
