By Mia Bolaris-Forget

Another married couple DH and I hang out with implicated that most “arguments” tend to happen right around “that time”. Yes, that dreaded time of the month known as your menstrual cycle. And, our friends suggested that PMS was to blame. And, they suggest that besides the obvious signs such as bloating, we ladies tend to also be more emotional, more irritable, and less reasonable.

Yet, while neither one of you feels “good” during this time, experts suggest there are things both of you can do to make it better.

· In with the good, out with the bad:/b> Experts suggest treating PMS just like you would almost any other type of irritation or stress, with deep breathing. And, this rule applies to the two of you. Just think, if you’re both busy breathing, you’ll have less time to lash out at each other.

· Take a breather:
· Take responsibility for your actions: Just because you may feel bloated, achy and cranky is no excuse to take it out on your mate. And, men should refrain from pointing out her poor attitude and pinning it on PMS. Instead you each need to recognize that there is a potentially “deeper” problem and find a more amicable way to discuss it and work it out.

· Make it a “love fest”:/b> Rather than using this time of the month to hurl slurs and insults at each other try to shoe more love, maybe more than you normally would to smooth out the rough spots for both/each of you. Remember, there’s nothing wrong with tenderness and vulnerability, not even if you’re a guy. In fact, showing some extra love, support and understanding will likely go a long way with your lady. And ladies, you can be more apologetic if you feel you’ve lost your cool and snapped. Even, if he’s “hurt” or “confused”, your guy will take note. Remember, its more fun to make love than it is to make war.
