It seems that fall in officially here…at least according to the calendar and the decorations now adorning both the inside and outside of my home.

But, much to my elation (basically because we haven’t yet experienced a serious drop in temps) and to my dismay (because I know the “work” that’s ahead of me) my closets and drawers are still housing my spring and summer ensemble….luckily some of which I can still get away with.

But, as I (mentally) prepare to switch out my wardrobe, the fashionista in me is battling with the notion of tossing some of my fall and winter favourites in favour of some more seasonally “stylish” pieces that are “hot” right now.

· Bigger is apparently better: At least when it comes to this year’s “must have” winter- wear. Big coats circa 1980-something are back, and black and charcoal grey (wool) are the “it” trend for fabulous femmes this season.

· Coming up rosey: Bold, audacious colours are also back in style…and one of the hottest hues that’s a “must” for “in-style” gals, is hot pink (anything). Pink is this season’s new black with paid also taking center stage when it comes to timely trends.

· The classics are making a comeback: Bermuda shorts for warmer days will be a staple as will be simple chic pairings such as crisp white shirt with tailored but trendy updated navy or back blazer.

· Hard-core femme: This season mixing leather and lace won’t be a no-no but a definite fashion YES!

· Hippy chic: From fringes to braids the 60s and 70s are still rockin’ the fashion scene. Expect to see lots of long dresses and tresses including fabulously feminine braids.

· Big Hair: Yup…it’s back but think 1970s not 1980-something. In fact, when it comes to bold and beautiful hair think Afro-chic….especially if you’ve got full, thick, luscious locks that automatically spell “drama”.

· Sexy silhouettes: The “Girls just wanna have fun” bubble skirt trend seems to have burst. In its place…sexy, sophisticated and “glam” pencil skirts.

· Duds for Dudes: Some male accessories are making their way into women’s wear. Expect to see more ladies wearing power ties with their button down tops.

· Bargain shopping: In a tight and tough economy, being thrifty is definitely “in”. Look for locations that are able to sell good quality brand names for less, “clip” or download coupons and head out to the stores on special sale days…even if it does mean crowds.

· Straight and narrow: Slim slacks, think Audrey Hepburn, for slim gals is the new black for “trouser wear”. Tailored can be both trendy and timeless and very hot for being stylish in the cooler temps.

· Biker chic: Think Grease, yes, the movie. Divalicious ladies will be heating things up this season by sporting leather skirts, biker jackets and sexy, strappy stilettos.

· Drama Queen Lips: Luscious lips are always in, but this season hot and haute hues are bold and beautiful and play up subtle, soft eyes exquisitely

· Hat couture: Head gear is “hot” this season. From bold berets to sleek chapeaus this accessory can be very sexy for the right femme.

· Bold shoulders: Shoulder accents are “in” again, and that includes (yikes) padded shoulders and one-shoulder blouses and dresses.

· Thigh High Boots: Yes, they’re baaaack. Boots that hit at the knee and go well above it are the sexy must-have item for this season. And, the fact that the accentuate the gams and make them look long and lean is a plus for ladies and their men.

· “Tie-Dyed” Tresses: A mix of highlights and lowlights are the new hair trend for tressing up summer locks with a little fall flair.
