 | I'm a little sad I started weaning Alex last week, and I think I'm pretty much done. Six months EBF, and that's it... I pumped once yesterday and only got about 3 or 4 ounces, and I haven't been engorged at all since. It's a relief that I'm no longer tied to that dam* pump and I don't have to run around like a crazy woman at work finding the time in between court to pump, but all the same, a little piece of me feels guilty that I'm depriving my little girl of the best milk for her. When I was making a bottle of formula for her today a little piece of me felt just horrible, like I was a horrible mommy for making this bottle of artificial nutrients for her. I probably would have gone longer but she lost interest in nursing about 4-6 weeks ago She's growing up too fast |

 | Re: I'm a little sad 6 months is great.I know how you feel though. I kept saying I was done and I just can't do it. I actually went out and bought the PISA so that I can keep pumping and return my hospital pump.
I think its just hard for us mommies because it does feel like a sign that they're growing up. Miranda will only nurse once a day at 5am, the rest of her feedings I have to pump for her. She's just too distracted and the bottle gives her the freedom to eat and look around.

 | Re: I'm a little sad Listen, you did it for 6 months - that is WONDERFUL! You already did what you felt was best for her. I do understand though that the hormones don't make it any easier. I only pumped (never BF'd) for 6 weeks and when I weaned him, I couldn't help but feel a little sad, especially since he never even latched. So it's normal but you shouldn't feel guilty...you did a wonderful thing for your baby. |

 | Re: I'm a little sad Angela only got 6 months worth bc i stopped making milk (unexpectedly got pg and then miscarried). Now that the second one is here, I am only going to do it for 6 months - I am justifying it by saying Angela only got 6 months so Danielle should get the same!! But really it's bc I need an end in site to get through it, it's harder this time for some reason. I also think 6 months is a really long time, and you should be proud. Some people chose not to do it at all!! |

 | Re: I'm a little sad What your feeling is normal, I felt that way and only pumped for 3 months. It was such a guilty feeling. Be proud of yourself - you did it for 6 months, thats quite an accomplishment!

A little secret, you'd feel that way, most likely, if it were 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or even 12 or whatever timeframe you would wean in.

6 months is AWESOME! That is my goal, this time as well. I did 12 months with my first and went right in to pregnancy and nursing again. I'm already thinking maybe a little longer...we'll have to see.
