Re: What's your plan?

Like others have said, nothing is open. Where is there to go? I'd love to go to a restaurant right now.

Part of me says eff it, let's move on but still be aware and safe. Keep our distance yet still try to live our lives mask free. Is this even possible anymore?

What's your plan?

I am between 1 and 2. I am inching towards #1 more and more every day. I just want to let my son have a play date. He needs socialization. I’m honestly fine with staying in the house and just doing outdoor things every day, but my son is done with both me and my DH. He doesn’t want to play with us anymore. He just wants to watch TV and/or play video games. It’s sad as he is usually such as an active little boy.

Omg our friends in Florida are out to dinner right now in a restaurant for the first time in months.
I am soooo jealous of them!

I’m a number 2. There is no where to go besides the supermarkets and beach/hiking trails. I know none of my friends would be ok with hanging out 6 feet apart in our hards, etc... They’re all staying home too.

I can't even remember what it was like to get to go to a restaurant and it's only been 7 weeks. So odd...

I'm probably close to a 4. We have been having outdoor happy hours on my block. We all sit at least 6 feet apart, probably closer to 10 feet. I walk with my neighbor around the neighborhood daily. I ordered stuff from Target today for the first time and it didn't dawn on me that I actually had to go into the store so I did. Oh well, it was fine for me. I kind of wanted to stay there and shop a little but my husband is crazy about this and I felt guilty.

Will you allow your children to go to school?

Oops, Supposed to be #2 , I was on my phone, didn't notice. But if lets say that nothing was open til 2022, where would I go???? Not that I think that will happen.

#4 I do wish there were more places to go to though! I homeschool my kids so schools closing didn’t affect us but all our outside activities, which is a good portion of our homeschooling, got cancelled so that part is annoying. I don’t buy bulk and go to supermarkets to buy what I need for the week. I don’t use antibacterial but do wash my hands when I get home (I’ve always done that). I don’t use masks except when I go to supermarkets that require them but even then, I don’t keep the mask over my nose/mouth all the time because I just can’t breath and to be honest, they don’t even offer protection. We’ll start doing our outside activities as soon as they open again.

Exactly. Now not even friends to hang out with, because most of my friends are leaving now to Florida.

Re: What's your plan?

I vacillate between 2 and 3. I had to move my quarantine location from my home to my parents home in Queens because DH is a volunteer EMT and I did not want to risk getting the virus and spreading it to my parents who are high risk. I tested negative for Covid a few weeks ago so I am being as cautious as possible right now.

I've only left the house for groceries, medicine and take out on limited instances. I am very very lucky that my job is allowing us to work from home, and rumor is we may be remote until September or later however the courts are still closed and a bulk of my job is court appearances. If they open and my job forces all attorneys to make appearances, I have considered quitting. The uncertainty is very Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What's your plan?

I guess I’m the only one who would pick choice 3 if I could?! Lol. It’s not realistic, as I’m sure my job will open long before then and my kids’ school will reopen.
I must be the most antisocial homebody. I get anything we need delivered & have no desire to go anywhere besides my back yard, front porch & car for drives. I like the slower pace & a break from the rat race, the hectic mornings rushing everybody off to school, and getting home so late from work, rushing to cook dinner, etc. I don’t miss anybody either, texts & zoom calls with extended family & friends are more than enough. I can’t think of one place I want to go that I can’t. I like that there’s no traffic, cleaner air, clearer views of the city, etc. i know some day my family and I might get the virus anyway, but I don’t need that day to be in the near future if I can help it. I guess I’m boring but content and in no rush to go back to the craziness of the old normal.

If it was just me and my DH, I would be fine with it. It is hard having an only child. He needs to interact with other kids.

Re: What's your plan?

Has anyone’s plans changed?

My sister was over my house this weekend, and I did see my uncle and aunt for like an hour on Mother’s Day. My sister wants to take my son for the weekend.

So I’m officially done. I’m not going to have extended get togethers or full blown parties. But my sister and I will be visiting each other. Maybe another visit to my uncle in a few weeks. They are older and I couldn’t imagine something happening and I didn’t see him.

I think mine will. We haven't been going anywhere but the grocery store and to pick up takeout occasionally. We didn't go anywhere on Mother's Day. But, I think I will start on Memorial Day. My parents usually do a BBQ and I think we'll go. And, if camp opens, my daughter is going. She's an only child and needs interaction with other kids.

I bet seeing ur family felt so comforting! Good for u! I see more ppl being more relaxed with all these changes, and I have no problem with it at all, I actually feel the opposite. We should be able to do that, we are humans that thrive with the company of others and the interaction especially our family. My bil came to visit the other day and we were so happy to see him, especially my kids!

Almost everyone I know got together with family on Mothers Day. Outdoors, socially distant, but not masks in all cases. We did not but I would have. The only reason we did not is because my mom is very very scared so I did not want to push her.

It was so comforting. And my uncle was like a little kid. His excitement, he was like “come in, come in - sit down”. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we were excited when visitors came over. Lol.

What's your plan?

I have started to allow my 9 year old to ride his bike with his friend across the street. They wear masks and do not stop their bikes to chat. My parents & inlaws came over on Mother's Day, we stayed outside. Every Sunday I meet a friend for a walk. We don't hug or touch each other.
I can't live in complete isolation anymore. It's is mentally destroying us.

Re: What's your plan?

I don't know where I fit on your list. I go to the office 1x per week for 4 hours. That is the limit unless there is a specific reason for me to be there more than that.

I do the grocery shopping 1x per week. I use buy online, pick-up in store whenever possible. I use Amazon whenever I can't get what I need at a local store (like cat food last week - go figure).

The hubby swears he is never going back to the office to work on a daily basis, and will only go when the big-wigs are in town and he needs to meet with them. He is totally loving working from home.

I want my kid off the computer. All this research about how staring at screen is detrimental, and now that is all she does all day long because of the amount of work her teachers are giving her. There is one teacher who gives work every other day, that claims it is the same as if they were in class. I've looked at it. I have no idea how she thinks the kids can get all of that completed in 40 minutes. I want my kid off the computer.

I'm not a fan of vaccines that get shoved through approvals without appropriate testing. To me, that an lead to a severe of a cure being worse than the disease. Frankly, I don't think there will ever be an effective vaccine. I'm more interested in effective treatments that prevent the virus from progressing to the point that people need to be put on a ventilator. What is scary to me about this virus isn't that there isn't a vaccine, it's that there isn't effective treatment.

ETA: My MIL is 91. We are not going anywhere near her. I don't know when we will see her face to face again. DH is terrified that he will infect his mother and she will die. He got into a fight with one sister because she went to "hang" out with her, even though she lives with a first responder and could be a carrier and infect their mother.

Re: What's your plan?

I am doing what I have been told to. Work from home and only go out for necessities. Once a week food shopping.

While I miss my friends, I am fine not going out and doing things. It is more annoying to see people needing to hang out to continue with their selfies on social media.

I just hope hospitalizations don’t increase and set us back because people can’t sit at home.

Lol! Pretty much the same for me. The only thing that changed last minute for me was visiting my uncle in Queens. We were in the area, and decided to go in and see him.
