When do you think we will Social Distancing be done
Should we start taking guesses as to when we will be able to go back to the office, when restaurants and other businesses are allowed to be open?

I don’t have an exact date but my gut says as soon as the #s are low and there’s a proven medication that helps most, life will slowly get back to normal. I think school is done with for sure this year. And when we start to slowly get back to working again, it’ll be reduced work force at first, 6 feet away, etc etc. but normal normal ?? I don’t see it happening anytime soon. I’m not sure I’ll ever feel the level of comfort I normally felt when out and about again

Cuomo was saying the priority will be getting people back to work and school. Things like concerts, Broadway, sporting events will be longer obviously. So I see it happening in stages. A little at a time.
Even a little something will be good for my mindset

I think things will slowly start to open in mid May, with restrictions. But places like hair salons, etc will be able to open again and restaurants but at a lower capacity.

I think many non essential businesses will be allowed to reopen come May 1st, but with social distancing guidelines and limits to how many people are in an establishment (ie: fewer tables in restaurants, limits of # of people in hair salons, etc). Schools to reopen June 1st (with 2 weeks added to school year) - with limitations on assemblies, maybe lunch in classrooms, less extracurriculars, etc).
Here's hoping. We cannot go on much longer like this. It is very unhealthy mentally and not good for the children to be out of school. I think the governor realizes this which is a good thing.

My guesses- I think schools will reopen in September. I think all camps will cancel for this summer. Restaurants, bars, hair salons, malls, etc., starting in mid May, but with limited capacity. Broadway & other NYC tourist attractions, I can see remaining closed until September. Last will be concert venues/sports stadiums/arenas. I'm thinking December/January on that one. But again, these are all only guesses.

I’m with you. I’d love a 6/1 opening but I don’t see that happening unfortunately.

My nails look like crap and I'm in desperate need of a pedicure but my kid needs to go back to school.

As for social distancing I think it’s going to be in place for a very long time. I don’t think we can go back to being packed like sardines in places. I th8nk there will be new protocols, lower occupancy limits etc. I think it will be different, and may never go back to how it was before

I agree, I desperately want my kids back at school. But, I am not sure that many children and adults, packed into a building, on top of each other, will be safe anytime soon. My heart breaks that my kids are most likely home until September- but I think it is the safest option.

5 years from now things aren't going to be like this.
Never is a very long time .
Medical advances will happen. Treatments and vaccines etc . They eradicated polio. They have drugs that get HIV to a point where it's not even detectable in your body anymore. They will figure this out over time

I agree. I think this level of social distancing will be over in a month or two, and every month will bring another level of normalcy, until we are completely back to normal. In a few years, people won't even be giving Covid-19, and social distancing, a second thought. People said we would never go back to a pre 9/11 America. Nobody would travel, want to go into major cities, or want to work in high rise buildings. Here we are, doing all of those things. People forget, and life goes on.

Except school IS essential. Salons are not.
IMO, none of those things should reopen anytime soon. But, I also know they cannot close everything indefinitely- that would completely collapse our economy. So, while I believe those things will begin to open in May, I don't believe they should. Schools should definitely not be reopening this school year.

I know this is petty but I just really want to be able to go to the pool/beach this summer. Maybe they can limit numbers and space out the chairs more. IDK. I’m accepting no school until the fall but I really want my kids to be able to go to camp and have a summer. Obviously only if it’s safe but I’m hoping.

We are members of a yacht club where we keep our boat all season and use the facilities. We’ve already received a letter from them asking if we can wait until at least 4/29 to drop our boats (normally can drop by 4/15) and club facilities open as of Memorial Day weekend and that’s up in the air as they wait. So even when/if we drop our boats, there will be no pool, dining, or showers/lockers available until they get approval to open from the state.
Definitely a sad letter from them that’s for sure. And especially since we already paid our dues in full at the end of last season - we are all wondering if we’ll get credit towards next year

I think the data chart they have been showing during the briefings show the bottom of the curve around June 1 so I am hoping things open up by then.
