Failed the 1 hour
I'm so depressed , I just got a call that I failed the 1 hour with a score of 147. Anyone fail the 1 hour and pass the 3 hr ?

Yes, me! as well as a bunch of other people on the July thread lol. I've read that most people who fail the 1 hour pass the 3 hour. It was just a pain to have to sit there and get blood drawn every hour but I got through it and passed... good luck!

Yup, it happens ALL THE TIME. I don't know why they even do the 1 hour anymore.
My doctors office has now switched to the 2 hour for that reason. Now if you fail, that's it.

Me! I failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour -- with the 3 hour, you'll get your blood drawn 4x (ugh, I know!) -- you'll get a baseline measure before you drink the glucose, and then a blood draw at the 1 hr mark, 2 hr mark, and 3hr mark. You need to "fail" more than one of the 4 draws to be diagnosed as having gestational diabetes. I only failed 1 of the draws, so made the cut-off. They're stricter with the 3 hours test in that you need to fast for 8-9 hours before the test during which time you can only drink water. You can drink water up until the test, but once you consume the glucose drink, you can't have anything to eat or drink (even water) until you're done with your last blood draw. Some helpful hints: the 3 hour drink is twice as sweet -- clawingly sweet -- make sure the lab refrigerates it before you come -- its so much easier to drink when it's cold -- also, bring a straw with you -- you only have 5 minutes to finish it and I found sucking it up with a straw helped me get it down quick without the "chugging" feeling! Definitely bring a snack with you for right after the test and make sure you have something to drink with you -- I was super hungry and incredibly thirsty since I'd just gone 3 hours without anything! I failed the 1 hour one with a 147 also. But I passed the 3 hr test so it happens! It sucks to take the 3 hour test but I hear a lot of people fail the one hour test and still pass the 3 hour one.

I failed the 1 hour by something like 3 - 5 points and passed the 3 hour with no problems. I didn't feel there way any difference in the drink, but I also had issues with the 1 hour drink making me feel sick. I felt like I was going to be sick almost the whole 3 hours and they told me if I got sick I'd have to come back so I managed to keep it down.

I don't think it matters. I know people who failed the 1 hour miserably (like 180) and passed the 3 hour. I also know people, myself included, who barely failed the 1 hour (I had either 141 or 147) and I barely failed the 3 hour (by under 10 pts).
It's all how your specific pregnant body reacts to the glucose. You can be a skinny person who eats clean who fails or an overweight junk food eater who passes.

It doesn't matter and won't help you figure out if you'll pass. I had the same score with both 1 hour tests. I think it was 154 or 159. I assumed I'd pass the 3 hour the second time around since I passed it with my first pregnancy. I also started out my second pregnancy 25 lbs lighter, ate healthier and was more active. I ended up failing the 3 hour and was diagnosed with glucose intolerance.

Failed one hour! Passed 3hr! Same just happened to my cousin too!
We have a theory that's never been tested passed my cousin and I lol, but we think you can fail the 1hr if your dehydrated. So hydrate well before the 3 hour
