sniff! I failed my 1 hour!!!
Like I predicted, I failed it  I got a 167  that's not even that close to the cut-off 
I can't blame it on eating anything or any other circumstance becuase I was so careful that morning
I really hope I pass the 3 hour. I have to schedule it right now the worst thing I can think of is finding out I failed the 3 hour, I have GD, and then 24 hours going on a plane for 3 weeks in europe w/o being able to speak to a dietician or anything

DOn't worry....Many people don't know but this test is VERY unreliable. Between 50 and 70% of women if retested will have different results than they got from their first test. ................
My midwife group doesn't even do it, they go by symptoms instead.......... there are actual studies of women who had their glucose tested and it was 250! and 1 hour later it was back to 120, self regulated. THey also don't think it is healthy to fast and the fasting can actually lead to an increase in sugar levels, this is why diabetics need to eat wel rounded meals at regualr intervals and aren't ever suppose to fast.

The glucose tests. They are testing for gestational diabetes.
At about 26 weeks, you'll take a 1-hour test, which means you'll drink a glucose drink, then wait one hour and they'll test your blood. IF your results are unfavorable, your doctor will send you back for a 3-hour test.

I called up my mom and whined to her for 30 min... She put it in perspective alright... she said 'what, you're worried about this small problem when there are poor women who are sacrificing MUCH more by being on bedrest for 6 months??!'
yeah, that set me straight... I'm counting my blessings either way....
at any rate, the scientist in me (and NO, she can't be stopped) looked up the probability of a GD diagnosis following a 167 one hour test result....
it turns out the odds are 40%.... not good, but still less than half.
I'm crossing my fingers, although I have suspected for a while that I have a pre-diabetic state that is merely 'normal' becuase of my diet.

The morning of my 1 hour I had a big bowl of Cheerios and a sip of vitamin water. The cut off was 140 and my glucose was 150. I spoke to my MIL who is a nurse and she assured me that my level was most likely elevated because of what I ate that morning. She is pretty confident that the 3 hour I should be fine.
I wouldnt worry too much about it. Just take it easy and follow whatever the doctor told you to do. My doctor told me no food after midnight. I am going at 7:30am to do my 3 hour.

I failed mine too and passed the 3 hour and I was convinced I would fail the three hour. I had the appt. at 7:30 the next morning and I didn't eat from 4:30 the day before!

thank you soooo much
I just spoke to the nurse when I picked up my Rx and she said it wasn't necessary to do the 3 day high carb diet (on the flip side, I've been going to town on pesto pasta and french bread since sat... so that's coincidentally high carb... for 3 days!) at any rate, I was advised to go ASAP for my 3 hour test, so we have time to deal with a possible GD diagnosis if it happens...
So, the 3hour is...... TOMORROW MORNING at 9AM
about to nuke my last meal before fasting...... I hope the glucose gods (not to mention the scone and german sheetcake gods.. since I'm going to london and germany soon)bless me with a decent insulin response!
