Why dont you have an outdoor party? May the weather is beautiful. Throw her a party in the park maybe..

I was just going to say that.
And this is not meant to bash you, but coming from personal experience. The scars run deep when children feel slighted.

If you did not or are not having a big 1st B-day Bash?

We are going to have a pretty large first birthday party.....but we aren't having a babtisim party.

IMO I think it is only fair to do the same for dd that you did for ds.....you don't have to have at your home or a restaurant....her birthday is in may. Can you do something at a park or in your backyard? I am an only child so I can't speak from experience, but what happens in 5 years when she looks at photos and saw her brother had a big to do and she didn't?

Re: If you did not or are not having a big 1st B-day Bash?

My question was NOTt : Would you feel bad if you had a bigger party for one child and a small party the another child....
If i had asked that question, i would be ok with the response.
I am not commenting on your "vacation" comment. That has nothing to do with what i am asking in this post. Not going back there.

Oh and I would NEVER be upset if my brother had a bigger first birthday party than i did. NEVER NEVER NEVER...that's just not me. And I'm sure there will be things that my daughter gets that my son does not, it's all going to even out at the end.

I was responding to this "We did have a bigger party for DS, but i found it sooo stressful - we did do it at our house and it was tight. And that was before we had a million toys..now there is just no room."

I agree that doing for one and not the other is not fair. I am a middle child and felt left out a LOT between my older and younger sister. I am not scarred, but I remember feeling like I wasn't as special.

Do what you want, but don't ask for opinions and then get pissy when people don't agree with you.

We didn't have one with our older son & won't be having one for our little guy (who will be 1 next week). Honestly, I've never been to a big bash for a first birthday party so until I heard about it on here it never even would have occurred to me to do it. My feeling is that the kids are too little to know or care if they had a big party anyway so I'd rather save my time & energy and just give them nice gifts/deposits into their bank accounts.

Like before, we'll be having both sets of grandparents over next week plus whichever aunts & uncles can make it (most live far away now though) and we'll be doing pizza and cake.

Also, just be clear...we will be celebrating DD birthday with immediate family, it just won't be a big party.
Sorry if there was that was not understood. Of course we will celebrate her first birthday.

I have officially learned my lesson with this, since the comments do bother me, I will no longer be posting these kinds of questions.
Lesson learned.

We are having a big 1st bday party-- at Cedar Creek.

We knew we wanted something outside and ideally, we would love to have a house party but we are still out of our house since the storm and we don't want to impose on anyone else's house. So, we figured we would have something big for this 1st one and the rest of his bdays will be backyard bbqs.

Listen. Ask whatever questions you want. This is a free forum. But when someone responds in a way you don't want to because, like I said, it's a free forum, don't throw a fit. It's that simple. Not everyone is going to agree with what you are saying.

I completely agree with this. This is a first birthday party that we're talking about here...do people REALLY resent their parents about things like this? Sheesh

If it's never happened to you then you don't understand what it feels like to feel left out and not as special as your sibling.

ETA not to add insult to injury but this isn't the first post about how she doesn't want to, didn't or isn't including her DD, sorry if I take that a little too personally

And as far KA goes, this par for the course with her. And her "woe is me" cry isn't going to change opinions about her. She shouldn't have said she wouldn't do the same for her daughter if she didn't want to see the flipside.
