When did you stop swaddling?

DD sleeps really well...she's 3 1/2 months old (almost 4) and sleeps from like 10:30 to 6:30 every night...We do still swaddle her, and I am a little afraid to stop, cause I feel like she won't sleep as long. When did you stop? And did you just do it cold turkey, or was there some sort of in between step?

We stopped cold turkey at 3 months and also transitioned from bassinet to crib at the same time.

She now sleeps better than she did. 8-7am. The first night she was fussy but that was it

when DD was about 2-3 weeks, she was like houdini and would wiggle out of her swaddle wraps, her arms would never stay in. We will try again with this baby when he comes.

We started around 4-4 1/2 months. He kept on breaking out so it was waking him (and us) up numerous times at night. He dropped the paci at this time as well.

I told the ped at his 4 month well visit we were still swaddling and he was shocked that DS was still letting us.

We transitioned DS directly to a sleep sack and it worked pretty well - ped had suggested it because it still made DS feel warm and cozy.

Stopped at 6 months! It was great while it lasted! LOL

I stop the swaddling as soon as possible because I don't want to get used to a good thing only to have it snatched away (naturally, I mean sleep). I stopped swaddling my DD around 6 weeks. My apartment was too hot to swaddle DS for very long - maybe 3 weeks.

I stopped around 3-3 1/2 months. She was regularly getting her arms out. But once she started rolling back to belly, it was really time to stop trying. Fortunately, she didn't seem to mind not being swaddled. I do put her in a Sleep Sack.

DS was swaddled until about 2 weeks ago--so he was 8 months old. I know it sounds crazy, but he slept great swaddled and terrible every time I took it away.

Once he showed signed of outgrowing it we stopped and the sleep transition was seamless. It was only horrible when I tried forcing him to sleep unswaddled.

Around 3.5-4 months DD was breaking out of the miracle blanket and waking herself up. I knew at that time to let her free and she did much better. Also began to sleep on her belly around that time.

Like 7 months.
My theory is- if they are sleeping well, why fix what is broken.
Good sleep is first and foremost in our lives.

My ped said no more swaddle at his 3 month appt so we took it away that night. Had no problems. He stilll STTN. He sleeps in a sleep sack now

Ever since we've been home from the hospital DD has busted out of her swaddle. I don't know if I don't do it tight enough (I try to make it as tight as I can without restricting her breathing) but I've never been able to keep her in one. She also would freak out, screaming and crying while I wrapped her. On occasion I can keep her in a Swaddle Me but she doesn't seem to sleep any better with it so I usually don't bother.

We did it cold turkey for both kids at 4 months give or take. It worked out to be during Christmas break from school when i was on vacation so I could catch up on sleep if they were up all night. It worked well for us but we were lucky.

We stopped cold turkey at 3-3.5 months when he started breaking out of it.

Thanks everyone. She's broken out of it the past 2 nights so I'm wondering if we should just try to go without it, or use the sleepsack tonight. Problem is - I'm so afraid she'll only sleep for like 2 hrs before getting fussy! Where atleast now, I'm getting a good almost 6 hrs before I have to go calm her down...Decisions decisions!
